We stayed for one night in August, in the basic cottage. Cottage was not perhaps the most luxurious as such but still more than enough for our purposes. Location is nice, very easy access from the highway and one could also reach this place via railway. Walking distance to the famous Punkaharju Ridge. Dinner and breakfast in the main building was very good, would certainly stop just for eating here. Also the little shop provided us with necessities when needed. Charger for the electric car was very efficient.

Stopped here for a night on our Finland tour and found it a wonderful oasis of peace and natural beauty. We hired a cabin and took advantage of the sauna and had a swim in the nearby lake. The cabin was pleasant but we didn't use the kitchen but had our meals at the restaurant which was good and very good value for money. The layout of the cabin was perhaps not perfect if you are two couples since the bedroom has a two level bed in one corner more suited for the children of a family.

We stayed 2 night in this holiday resort. We had our own residence that was a bit outdated but we alreary were aware of it. Our residence had an own sauna that was nice. We were able to drive with our own car just near to the residence so it was easy to move luggages inside. We also needed to have our own beddings with us. Resort area itself is nice as the lake Saimaa is connected to it. Everything went fine and we liked our stay.

Well-equipped, nice-looking and generally clean cottage, close to a beach and within walking distance to the aquapark Kesämaa where the children could walk on their own. However, upon arrival, we found the fireplace full of ashes, cigarette butts in the grill, a burnt light bulb in the floor-lamp, cat piss odour in the bathroom and lack of filters for the coffee machine. When we complained about these irregularities to the resort's reception, they sent a cleaning lady who was very reluctant to fix all of those and did that only when we insisted. She told us that she cannot feel the smell in the bathroom, the fireplace is not that full yet, there are just a few butts in the grill and the grill is not included in the equipment of the cottage anyway. The coffee filters were not included either (if true, this is probably the only cottage of this kind in Finland). She advised us that guests must check the model of the coffee machine upon arrival and then go to buy filters on their own in the closest supermarket. Finally, she promised to send someone to replace the light bulb but nobody did this during the whole week that we stayed (perhaps they assumed - quite correctly - that we do not need all the lights in the summer when the night is non-existent.)

So my family took a little car trip and as to be expected we stayed at a number of hotels, but to me this one stood out to be beautiful, modern, clean and just a place were you would like to spend time. We are a family of four so three beds was a nice surprise. The wooden walls had also been painted white in our cabin which made the room seem more open and modern. We had a few problems though. The door to the bathroom/toilet had no lock and it made my brother very uncomfortable and there might be a good reason why the lock was missing, but I just couldn’t figure it out. Also, the window to the bathroom could use a curtain. We were also led to believe that we could go swimming to the beach but there was a sign saying it was another businesses property. We would have liked to also know how much we're supposed to clean (maybe a note or a booklet). Also, the breakfast wasn't included in the final price. We were also charged for the bedsheets which we didn’t know we needed. Still I have to say that I loved being there. Only wish we could have stayed longer.

Our party (three adults and a five-year old) stayed in one of Harjun Portti cabins for four nights in July. The cabin was well equipped, clean and quiet, the beds very comfortable. There was a heat wave in Finland at the time and we took the opportunity to swim in the lake many times daily. We found the nearby small boat dock ("laivalaituri") great for this purpose. We were also lucky to have brought our own table fan to help cool the air a bit. We'd brought our own small grill with us and barbecued a couple of times. The two grills they had at Harjun Portti turned out to be too small for making food for four people. We also used the sauna every night. A typical small electric sauna, the temperature didn't really get hot enough to my taste, but it was nice to have a sauna nevertheless. One day we visited the water park across the road. According to the five-year-old this was the best experience of all in Punkaharju, along with fishing from the dock (we didn't catch any fish though). Overall a lovely little holiday in Punkaharju!

We stayed at the "Pistelahti" cottage over midsummer 2018. For 4 adults and 2 kids the cottage was just perfect size-wise with two bedrooms with double beds and two double sofa beds in the communal areas. The cottage was immaculate and well appointed. The sauna is rather small though and there is no bbq but apart from that - and only having one set of keys for a property of that size! - we had no complaints. The beds were really very comfortable. Sure, the cottages are all close together and close to the road, but this is not the resort you would come to if you want solitude. You come here for the activities and the perfect location! With the newly opened water park and cafe restaurant very close by and the pavilion restaurant 5 mins walk away, there is plenty to keep everyone occupied. You can also rent canoes, stand up paddle boards, bikes etc. There is a convenience store at the old petrol station if you get caught short. This resort is also the perfect location for day trips - the stunning Punkaharju ridge area is just a few mins drive away, the beautiful town of Savonlinna 30 mins away and so on.

Thinking this was an actual resort we were excited to be near the lake. We have been in Finland for almost two weeks, staying at various hotels. This was the last leg of our trip. This was booked by travel agent at Firebird tours. Upon arrival we were expected to make our beds up (sheets etc). Then in the morning strip bed, take out trash, clean cabin (including bathroom). If not we would incur a surcharge. They do provide cleaning products, along with a broom and mop. Ridiculous!!! TV doesn't work, beds feel like your at a childhood camp ground, no plug in the kitchen for coffee maker. No a/c, no fans, no ventilation, no curtains or blinds over the front window or the bathroom, water never does get hot, we haven't tried sauna yet. It is close to the lake and that is the positive. Beautiful trees, the lake is very nice, the area is quiet, but it is by no means a resort. To me it's one step up from tent camping. If you go in with that mindset then you probably won't be disappointed.

This is lovely area to spend weekend or even longer holiday periods in the middle of nature. You can find a lot of different options for activities in Finnish nature. Go to original Finnish sauna and feel the heat. After that jump to the lake and feal opposition :) We spent a weekend in cottage.
