The hotel and especially the room was not what they promised on their own website. It is titled as a boutique hotel, but it is a former boarding house and the style and amenities are accordingly. The prize was boutique hotel level though. The breakfast was decent and the bed was good. The room was really hot despite it was about 18 degrees celsius outside.

We booked a one-night stay by phone, the reservation process was really easy and went well. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a happy reseptionist and got our room sooner then the marked time. The room itself was clean and the high sealing height gave the room unique look. The bathroom was nothing special, also there was a kitchen there, but no kitchen ware / utensils. Except for a waterheater and complimentary coffees and teabags. Breakfast was nothing special, your standard hotel breakfast but no bacon, meatballs or saucages. So a more healthy option. We got the room for us in 134€/night inc. breakfast and i think that was a good price, because we got a discout coupon for 10% at some of the restaurants.

Room is fine, service great, breakfast below average and plain in choices and the breakfast room is quite sad and small, could not charge car because electricity outlet was locked. Location is close walk to center. The price is easy over-priced.

A summer hotel in Savonlinna, which seems to be a student residence during winter. Good location by the lake, although the 'suite' had windows facing bicycle stands. Clean and spacious rooms (decades ago this was the town hospital), furnished very modestly. During the Opera Festival in July, the breakfast is in the hotel. The breakfast is very plain. This simple accommodation is way overpriced. The stars go to the friendly and smiling girls in the reception, who also seemed to take care of the hotel breakfast.

This summer hotel Villa Aria is perfect for attending a performance at the Savonlinna Opera Festival. It is in easy walking distance from the train and from the medieval castle (Olavinlinna) where operas take place. Rooms have small kitchen facility, high ceilings, private bathrooms, and very much natural light. It is not a modern hotel but rather recalls the more traditional traveling spirit of early 20th century, lots of character and appeal for travelers weary of the high rise, full-service, look-alike hotels. Modest breakfast buffet is included. There is no A/C or TV but the windows open to beautiful Finnish summer air and it's right next to Lake Saimaa. There is a good restaurant and brewery, Huvila, next door. Safe and quiet area. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Make reservations early for the next summer.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was large with lots of windows. The first thing my husband said when we walked in was "this place smells like a hospital". I replied funny you would say that...! If you don't know this place is an old hospital. The lady in the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She even let me do a couple of loads of washing! The bathroom is almost like a portable one that has been assembled in the corner of the room. It was clean and the shower was not as bad as I thought it would be. If you are sick of staying in cramped hotel rooms give this place a go!

Ideally located for visitors to the opera festival the hotel has a wonderful view of the lake and the city. Forthcoming staff. The builiding as well as its facilities signal its past as an institution. There is no TV and there is no daily cleaning. However, the room we stayed in was equipped with refridgerator as well as a small stove (no cooking utensils though). Despite a limited selection of cold cuts and jams, the breakfast was good with some great freshly made croissants the first day. Nevertheless, the place comes across as pricey (which is most likely due to the general lack of accommodations in Savonlinna during the opera festival).

Beautiful and well restored old hospital. More like hostel than hotel except the price, which was four star hotel level. Excellent and beautiful location by the lake and not far away from the market place and Olavinlinna.

This lovely old hospital has been turned into student housing with tiny kitchens in smallish rooms. The rooms are light and peaceful. Pretty much all of the rooms have stairs so families travelling with children at the age of loving climbing and everything that is prohibited, this is not for you. The breakfast is quite ok considering that this isn't a real hotel. There is a couple of lovely cafes just nearby if more luxury is needed for the breakfast. Some might enjoy the huge beautiful terrace on the restaurant across the street.
