I stayed with Taiga Spirit and Sabrina five times over the past 6 years. Every trip was excellent and I saw and photographed many bears, eagles and wolverines, a few capercaillie, foxes, reindeer, owls and wolves, and had single sightings of lynx, otter and pine marten (but they require luck, so don’t expect them!). Sabrina makes enormous efforts for her guests and is a great guide. The hotel is quiet and comfortable with nice food. Highly recommended!

Our trip to Finland led us to spend 4 days in Sabrina's gîte on a half-board basis. It was during the closure of Taiga Spirit, which was closed because of bear hunting. So we weren't able to do any activities with Sabrina. Despite this, we really appreciated her professionalism. All the discussions we had with her enabled us to benefit from her extensive knowledge of the natural and environmental environment, and her explanations of the social and economic life of Finland. All her details about Finnish flora and fauna were a precious aid to our understanding and our discoveries. As Sabrina is French, our exchange was made much easier. We are now looking forward to Sabrina guiding us to the bears and wolverines on a future trip to Finland. So we warmly recommend a stay at Taiga Spirit ! …

We spent few days in the beginning of July 2023 to photograph wildlife in Kuhmo, Finland. It was our best decision to spent our time at Taiga Spirit. Sabrina, the owner, has excellent hides, well equipped for Wolverine and Bear watching and wildlife photography. Accommodation is OK. Breakfast and lunch were always tasty and family like and packed dinner for hides stay were always sufficient even with coffee. Sabrina's knowledge about wildlife- especially birds and other animals -of Finland is huge, the same is about interesting places of Finland. Definitely stay with Taiga Spirit when you want to learn and experience Finland nature.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Taiga Spirit, a heritage listed house that survived the Winter War. Sabrina, running the place and the program on her own, showed limitless energy and enthusiasm as she seemed determined that we get the most out of our time as per the brochure. We were in the forest a fair bit with introductory guided walks and car drives looking for the elusive deer and moose. The nights in the hides were quite exciting; the bears are attracted to salmon pieces and dog food spread in front of the hide. We saw about 18 bears all up, ranging from very young and nervous to fairly old looking. The food also attracts gulls, ravens, crows and a white-tailed eagle and black kite. We did not see a wolverine or wolf but on a car drive Sabrina eventually found a moose for us. Recommended unreservedly. …

We spent four nights with Taiga Spirit and it was a fantastic wildlife watching experience. We had three nights in a hide which was not shared, just my husband and I. I think there were four hides at the location in all. Each ‘night’ in the hide was from about 3 pm to 7 am the next day, but the time passed easily. We had absolutely fantastic sightings of wolverines every night and very close to the hide. Unfortunately, no bears. The hide had surprisingly comfortable bunks and we each had a freshly laundered sleeping back liner. Everything very clean – not a cobweb in sight! Our accommodation at Lentira was separate from the main house, the only downside of which was that it only had a composting toilet. There was a flush toilet we could use inside the main house but that was not really practical. We had our own shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. The rooms in the main house have flush toilets and I would definitely request one of these rooms when we return – which we will – in the future. All the organisation ran like clockwork – Sabrina you are a one-woman-wonder! Food was great and plentiful – simple Scandinavian breakfast; hot, tasty, home cooked lunch; generous picnic for in the hide. Pick-up and drop- off all straightforward and on time. Sabrina – thank you for a great stay and we will see you again for sure. …

Sabrina is an excellent host and guide - passionate, knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly. A one person independent business, she takes care of everything. Comfortable accommodation and good food, with all practicalities thought of. Incredible wildlife watching. I learned a lot and realised a dream to see brown bears. Cannot recommend Taiga Spirit highly enough.

Room large and comfortable. Good cooking. The nature observation adventure was the core part of the week in Lentiira. Perfectly arranged and managed by Sabrina, who's a very good wildlife guide. Exciting both the experiences, wildlife sighting in the hide as well as game drive. Strongly recommended for passionate wildlife watchers/photographers.

I had such an amazing experience on this tour that it has taken me a week to collect my thoughts for a review! First and foremost, Sabrina (aka Wonder Woman) was extremely organized and constantly customizing the tour as weather, guests and opportunities arose. She has a quaint home that is very warm and welcoming, but be warned, the stairs to the rooms and rather steep and old school, but plenty of railings to hang on; so, traversing them was a non-issue. The adventure began as she had said; a taxi was waiting to pick us up from our flight and an hour and a half later we arrived. Sabrina helped us usher ourselves and our stuff in & to the rooms. My room did have a private bathroom and shower! After we settled, she had a meal for us; good food, but way too much. After dinner, we went over our itinerary. I would say that luck was with us on my tour as we had a day to go look for reindeer & we saw them. We went to the hides to see bears and we saw them, but for me the pinnacle of success was seeing a male wolverine in the wild…maybe a meter away! We also had a small window of seeing the northern lights and once again; we saw them. Nature was on our side, and all that was offered came to fruition. Sabrina was an extremely knowledgeable person when it comes to Finland and nature. Again, Sabrina was highly organized, a great communicator and educator as she sprinkled in Finnish culture, Finnish food and Finnish language throughout the tour. Such an amazing experience, if you only have one thing left on your bucket list to do, skip that thing and take a Taiga Spirit tour instead, you won’t regret it!…

I spend two wonderful days in Taiga Spirit, taking very good photos of bears and wolverine. The organization is perfect, good and plentiful food (amazing snack box for the night), great support for camera gear (beanbag and tripod heads are provided), comfortable seats (I didn't find the same in other places) and big attention to cleaning. Cleanness is a strong point of Taiga Spirit: sheet and pillowcase are provided in addition to sleeping beds to spend the night in the hides, nice slippers guarantee heat and comfort, the toilet is in perfect conditions. If you want to enjoy bears in Finland in a comfortable environment, this is where to go.

Highly recommended small scale photography/nature company in Kuhmo, Lentiira. I spend 3 nights in photography hides in mid May and was lucky with the weather. The hides are well equipped (great camera benches, places for ballheads, sandbags etc excellent camera"hood" s at least 3 different on the long edge of the hide, comfy chairs good windows, warmer, bunks, sleep bags and a toilet as well.) Daytime accommodation I was super with private shower/bathroom, upstairs the main house . Just be a bit careful; the stairs and very steep :) Sabrina is excellent guide and host; all meals were very tasty and plenty. Also the snack box for the hide night is amazing, So one won't leave hungry. And of course the main thing: the wildlife ! My main goal was to see and photograph wolverine and it showed up 2 out of 3 nights! The bears are active, too, 5-7 different individual brown bear per night, so not bad at all.…
