This is a boutique hotel in The Rocks Area Sydney. I cannot fault the staff and their service. However, for what we paid for our room , we did not get good value. We were given a room behind a wall 10 m from the reception area. This is obviously a utility area. A huge red plastic laundry bin was out side our room all night. Adjoining rooms were a staff office and toilets which were used often. The lobby area being on the other side of the wall ( bookcase) meant we could hear EVERYTHING . Plates clinking at 6am. Staff talking and the piped music to the restaurant were particularly loud -especially at 6am. We could hear people talking like they were standing next to us well into the night. Also water rushing through pipes was disconcertingly audible. Tip: ask for a room away from reception if you are given 105. If you can walk stairs, take rooms on other levels. Room 3 .5 star at best- comfy bed and large ( disabled) shower but looking a bit shabby. Extremely disappointed for the 5 star price paid which is for location -obviously not comfort :( should have stayed at one of the other quality hotels in the area at this price

Hello anniej178, Thank you for choosing Harbour Rocks Hotel, we were happy to have you with us however I am extremely sad to learn we weren't able to deliver an amazing experience for you. Our unique heritage building lends itself to a non-traditional layout with the charm of the history weaved throughout and we will certainly take your feedback on board to see how we can continue to stive for excellence. The team and I are however thrilled to know that their customer care left a memorable impression & if there is an opportunity in the near future that your travels bring you back to The Rocks, please do let me know directly at gm_harbourrockshotel@evt.com so we can ensure a wonderful return stay. Best regards, Christopher G Hotel Manager

First the good. This is a boutique hotel occupying a really great location in the Rocks area in Sydney. The location is superb being a short walk to Circular Quay, the bridge and opera house. Also the staff are great, really friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the attached restaurant was nicely cooked and well presented. Now the not so good. For what it is, it’s expensive. It purports to have five stars, these are not evident. It was clearly converted from some other use several years ago and now needs a refit. The reception area furniture looks like it was rescued from a skip. There is no lift. Apart from the reception, there is no where else to sit. Our room, number 211 on the second floor was small, dingy and stuffy. We didn’t sleep a wink on the first night (of three) that we stayed there as we couldn’t work out how to control the air conditioner which seemingly only has two settings, freeze or fry. This last was sorted out with the hotels maintenance man the next day but why no instructions? We also tried to get fresh air by opening the window but it was screwed shut, so no joy there either. Our room had no view except for a fully closed in courtyard which only looked onto other rooms. The bathroom was terrible, some mould was present on the shower walls, the washbasin was stupidly small and because of a ridiculous shelf positioned immediately above it couldn’t be used properly. The WC looked like it too had been salvaged from a skip. The shelving was positioned so high, my wife could reach to grab a towel. Certainly this is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in for a long, long time.

Hello mousie401, What a shame we couldn't deliver an amazing experience for you, our heritage building is certainly unique and offers charming features standard big box hotels don't. Certainly, understand the challenges that not having a lift can cause and that some guests do enjoy fresh air from open windows, and whilst we can physically offer these features, we have many different types of rooms that could suit personal requirements with more comfort than the room allocated. The team and I are very pleased to learn that their service was a standout and that you had a good breakfast in Tayim, and after a hearty breakfast you were able to enjoy the central location of The Rocks & Circular Quay. And whilst I don't believe there will be an opportunity to welcome you home, please do not hesitate to reach out at gm_harbourrockshotel@evt.com if I can be of any further assistance. Best regards, Christopher G Hotel Manager

I’ll start by saying that the staff at this hotel are the best I’ve come across. Really helpful and are trying very hard to deal with this hotel’s issues. The entire hotel has been sealed with glass so no window can be opened to air the rooms. No provision has been made to provide ventilation with the end result that rooms are extremely stuffy and smelly. I had to leave the room door open just to try and get some air in. Our room was on the third floor and these rooms have old carpets that are not very clean and to say that the bathrooms are in need of updating would be an understatement. The sink was tiny and to make things worst, they stuck a small piece of marble just above it for placing toiletries which meant you really couldn’t access the tap properly. The rooms on the ground floor that start with a 1 are in a better state with newer bathrooms but again no ventilation. If you need to stay here, ask for one of these rooms. On the plus side, great location and excellent breakfast served by their wonderful staff

Great boutique hotel in a perfect location for walking around downtown Sydney. It’s in The Rocks historic district near the Harbor Bridge, and a 10 minute walk from the Opera House and Botanic Gardens. Hotel and restaurant staff were excellent, as was the food. Many other restaurants, bars, shops, and museums are just a few steps away.

The rooms are very small and the bathrooms even smaller Once you are in the shower you can't move. The seating in the bar area would have to been fond on the side of the road. Once you in them you can get out of them. The breafast menu is the smallest i have ever seen anywhere in the world. Although the staff in th kitchen are very pleasant they have no idea what they are dloing.

Though the reception staff are polite and helpful, the room was tired - especially the poorly repaired bathroom - and not what you expect at a five-star hotel. Also there is no lift. Sadly, Harbour Rocks Hotel was extremely poor value for money.

Spectacular location in The Rocks. Close to restaurants, shopping, and transportation. The staff members at the hotel went above and beyond to facilitate any requests we had. The room we had was comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
