We had a good experience with Vistar. The booking via email was efficient, and the UK staff was very helpful and friendly. It is true that the place is basic, but clean and in a good location. Whatever we asked for (cleaning, extra towels, hot water to make tea) were provided to us with a smile. They did require a 100% upfront payment in cash for the stay, which was a surprise but not something that one should complain considering the price. Overall, a good value for money.

We booked over the phone with no problems, then were told on arrival that we'd have to move rooms half way through our stay - a bit annoying as we hadn't been told this when we booked. Unfortunately the (mainly English) staff don't really communicate with each other and so don't seem to know about the bookings each other make. When it came to the day before moving rooms we were told we'd have to check out of our first room at 11am and into the next one at 3pm! The guy telling us was far from apologetic for this inconvenience. In the end we didn't have to do this as luckily they had managed to re-arrange things. There is also a strange booking system whereby if you don't pay for your whole stay upfront, (rather than a day at a time which we find to be the norm for accommodation in this price range) your booking is not guaranteed (as the system auto-cancels all unpaid for bookings each night) and you may well not have a place to stay the next night. The room itself was fine, although no one came to clean it at all or empty the bins even once - they are in the middle of renovating the place and so half the rooms have been decorated and half are still being done - so be warned that there is building work, drilling, etc going on during the day. The location's pretty good, only a few minutes' walk from the beach. Unfortunately we didn't really enjoy our stay here though, mainly due to the way we were treated by staff.…
