Mulan Guest House is located in the southwest of Kunming downtown. The transportation is quite convenient. It's a short commute from Grand View Park (Daguan Lou Park) in 1.6 km, and from Green Lake Park 4.5 km. If you come from the city center Jinbi Plaza to Mulan, it is just 4 km. The guest house is a beautiful villa with a front yard filled with lush green foliage, and various seasonal flowers. It keeps a primitive, and simple rustic lodge ambience featuring a wooden design, and supplementing furniture. This framework provides a unique western, and classical sylvan scene. The guest house includes a family room, king-bed room, double-bed room, and dormitory room. Our accommodations provide various choices for families with kids, couples, or friends traveling. Our ground floor is where you can indulge in many comforting western drinks, and food at our cafe, and restaurant.

The Mulan guest house is not the youth hostel . It is a small hotel with spacious and bright rooms , some of them with views of the flowery garden . The hotel is somewhat on the outskirts of Kunming but not further away then a 10 minute taxidrive . Rosa - the owner - is a real gem . It is not only her perfect english and humour ,it is her know-how , her alertness to your wishes : she understands western traveller ‘s needs and she anticipates . She arranged a driver with a smaller car ( so cheaper ) to the stone forest and tickets for the train to Dali . They have a breakfast à la carte so you can order according to your taste An american breakfast or just yoghurt with fruit . And she serves great coffee !

The girl who worked there was really nice. But the location is pretty out of the way and they put me in the dorm with people who either work there or were staying there for a longer time. Which itnot ideal for a solo backpacker, who wants to meet other travellers.

The Hostel is a little bit off the mainroad so its quiet. It was really clean and the prices were very good. Also the rooms were modern and clean. But the best thing about the hostel is the host rosa. she can speak good english and helped a lot with finding sights in kunming and other hotels and spots around kunming. she really cared a lot. Would definitely recommend. Thank you very much!

Slightly hard to find but was such a lovely place to stay. Beds had electric blankets, atmosphere was quaint and quiet. The coffee was also fantastic and the woman who runs and owns the place was incredibly helpful in navigating some difficult travelling logistics. All in all, would very much recommend!

This was without exaggeration the best 3 days of my so far life. Granted, there were other reasons for it (being on my own, kunming being beautiful, etc.), but i still do not take the space and the people for granted. I booked the space less than 12 hours before arriving, and arrived to meet Rosa at the front desk. She offered me tea and answered all of my questions. She provided a free map, translated directions, and wrote down important information in Chinese/Mandarin for me. She really went above and beyond what i would expect from my friends (let alone someone i only spent 3 days with). She even coordinated and purchased my train ticket out of Kunming  (an angel!). The facility is beyond beautiful with flowers and fruit (delicious 杨梅) and cute cats. I HIGHLY recommend booking the garden view room... it's quite the sight to wake up to. The beds are clean and comfortable, the showers are big; towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, and toothepaste are provided at no extra cost. I spent more time at the in and around the BnB/hostel than i did in any other part of Kunming and i felt very emotional when i had to leave. If you are lucky enough to meet Rosa's wonderful daughter, make sure to ask " 一起玩吗 " and let her teach you the art of flower decorations. She is incredibly smart and resourceful... not that i would expect anything less from Rosa'a daughter. I cant wait to back and spend at least 3 weeks in Yunnan (1 week in the same place).

Rosa made us feel welcome in China, and help a lot as we only spoke english. Rooms where nice and clean. The guest hose is in a quite neighborhood, 20min by foot to the center. If I ever come back to Kunming, this is where I'll stay again.

Two of us stayed here for a few nights. The location is very good and quiet. The food is great and inexpensive. The staff are all amazing and very helpful. We were able to leave our extra luggage for the week while traveled further. Very clean highly recommend!!

The location is not the best but that means more quiet in the evening. It's a very nice building with a small courtyard. Only the host speaks English good and helps you with any questions you might have. To bad she was only there the first day when we arrived. They have excellent home made food, free Wi-Fi and big rooms with a private bathroom. This is a good place to stay for a short visit to Kunming.

I always try to give an objective opinion, and try to see the best of things. But here... We got the advice per email that a taxi would cost around 25RMB from a bus stop, or that busses could take us closer. We let them know we would arrive around 10 PM, and that meant that there were no busses anymore. Taxis would only take us for 40 RMB to the hotel (if any, because most only want to go to the airport). In the end we arrived at the hotel, but the staff didn't know how to check us in so we got our room key and checked in the next morning. After a day in the town, the key didn't work anymore and we had to go downstairs again. The next day we could have no breakfast at 8 Am because there was not enough fruit. We only knew this because we asked the staff, they didnt pay attention to us at all. And a cappuccino then? Also not possible, there is only one person who does most of the work (Rosa) and she isn't there all day. So in the end, the rooms were good, the location isn't really (30 minute walk from the old town and at least 30 minute ride to the train station), breakfast is all right and Rosa is really helpful. So, what do you think?
