When we first arrived at the hotel, it looks kinda small from outside. The room is in decent size but very well designed. What I love best are the shower gel and shampoo. They smell really good. They provide 2 kinds of shower gel, one with lavender for night time with calming effect and one with orange peel for day time with invigorating effect. The hotel also provide late night dinner snacks from 10-11pm. Do stroll around the neighborhood, there are some traditional market market and small scale supermarket where the locals shop.

We stayed here in Feb. and Mar. 2019. The front desk is very busy and they work to get you checked in and out, very quickly. Some employees have very good English and others have sufficient English, everyone is professional. Our room was a single King with laminate flooring. It was very clean, spacious, bed was extremely comfortable, the free items in the mini fridge were a nice touch, there are robes, slippers, toiletries and safe in the room. Internet is free throughout the hotel. The downside was slow speed or no response after going in on and entering something...it was not responding. It worked better on the iPhone, rather than the iPad with VPN. We had dinner in the restaurant...the food was good, but high priced for Shanghai. It had western prices. On our return to the hotel at the end of our trip, breakfast was excluded. A large selection of Asian, European and Western breakfast choices were available. The many different pots of tea to choose from was nice. The coffee was available from a coffee/expresso machine and they were in high demand with a line at each of them...as the machines were slower. The restaurant staff and the reception staff all wore their heavy winter coats, as the lobby and restaurant did not appear to be heated. I asked someone who lived their and they said that the government had that central heating was only approved above a certain latitude and Shanghai was not included for having centralized heat. Our hotel room had heat and a control that you could set and control. So the guest got heat just fine, but the staff worked in a cold environment. The hotel is about 6 minutes walk to the metro No. 10 Line! We went everywhere by the metro, it was fast, clean and very economical. The lines are well marked and the hotel gives you a metro map. There are a couple of eating establishments next door. Be sure to try the noodle shop...it is very tasty! Loved that they made bottled water available in the lobby, along with team and coffee, that you could help yourself to. I was able to get good rates online, but you had to really watch the pricing because it could range from $62 -$185 a night. The $62 pricing is acceptable for what we got. Above $80, you would need check out comparable ratings and pricing. We do recommend this hotel to travelers, you will be satisfied with your stay.

Stayed for 2 nights and overall I think it is a nice hotel. Room is at the right size, toilet is clean with all the toiletries. Breakfast is fantastic for this kind of hotel. Best I think is the location of this hotel, near to commercial area, restaurants and shopping malls. The hotel also provide airport (HongQiou and Pudong) bus service with a minimum fee. Worth the money.

We followed the advice of visitors reviews only to be greeted by the horror of hospitality at White Mansion, sure its a great location, and its great value [means cheap- literally], but for the cheap value proposition you get exact poor product quality. Right on arrival, we had to wait and struggle with the reception staff for almost an hour, Im not kidding, almost one hour to check in on arrival as the reception staff did not speak any english and were also rude and irritated, further while struggling with the hotel staff we met another hotel guest who said they had a big fight day before at check in as the rooms that were promised to them while booking were not the same as what they were provided when they arrived...ditto happened to us as well. But this was just the beginning, the rooms were stinking- possibly due to uncleaned carpets, wall paper peeling on the walls with seepage marks, torn pillow covers, form towels and smelly bed covers....non existent wifi... the list is long.. we kept wondering- its just our luck or the great reviews we read online were about another hotel with the same name!! I came back and did a double check... its the same hotel?? So any one travelling to White Mansion be careful of what you might find in exchange for the alleged great value they offer!!! I would never recommend this hotel to any one...

While it's not the Hilton and a bit shabbier than the photos let on, you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer place in a better location for the money in Shanghai. We found the room to be quiet and peaceful at night, though it was mid-summer with the aircon which would have canceled out much of the noise anyway. In terms of location, while White Mansion is a couple of km north of the Bund, it's only about a 10-15 minute walk to Dongbaoxing and Hailun Road metro stations. Hailun Road is also a great place for local street food. Downsides of the room included weak air conditioning (we got by, but it could have been much cooler), and a faint musty smell that we only noticed when we arrived. We found keeping a window cracked throughout the day eliminated this. Staff is friendly but spoke limited English (but after all, we are in China).

The White Mansion (Baisha) Hotel in Hongkou district is an excellent value budget hotel located within walking distance of 3 subway stations and close to the centre of town. I stayed for 4 nights for less than 100 UK pounds. The room was clean, the internet was fast, the staff were friendly, and the air conditioning worked well (crucial in summer). There was no fridge in my room, and no safe. Either of those could be major negatives for many people. But I felt the excellent deal and location more than made up for it. (NB I speak Chinese, so I cannot say if the staff's English is good.) The hotel is on busy North Sichuan Road, and there are lots of restaurants and shops around.

We return to Shanghai every year. We stay at this hotel every time. It's location is fantastic, Many restaurants, shopping opportunities and transportation with taxi, bus or metro. Nice hotel restaurant. Staff helpful. Free internet and many tv channels. Rooms have refrigerator. Rooms are satisfying in size but the sheets are not changed in several days. Water in Bathroom sink and bath tub is running very slowly down. But overall we love the hotel.

Plenty of cab just at door step of hotel, strategic location to reach various destinations in Shanghai thru cab and within minutes of ride. Spoilt choice of foods at a lane opposite of Hotel. Ideal shopping place as there are two big shopping complexes within walking distance. Hotel Staff are friendly and very helpful althought they command very little english.

The hotel was in nice location, less than 5 min walking from the metro station and 20-30 min from the city. The taxi to the old city cost just 2 euros. It was not noisy, but I was staying the last floor. The room was a bit dark, although it had a big window. The staff was friendly and helpful but their english were poor. I stayed there for two days. The most negative thing was that the water was smelling so much, I had the impression that I am getting dirtier each time I was getting shower. Τhe carpet was full of stains. I haven t tried the restaurant. It cost around 20 euros per night for a douple room, which one day I share with a friend. The price was the same for a single room. I would recomment this hotel to people without too many expections. When I am on holidays I don t spend too much time in the hotel and my main concern is to be clean.
