Stayed here for about a week when we were in town for a conference at the nearby university. The hotel has probably had its better years decades ago but still measures up for those requiring the basic of needs: a roof, shower and clean bed, at an affordable rate, just located opposite to the Siping Rd metro station. Wifi (requiring local SIM number to connect) apparently works better after 12 am. Breakfast is basic Chinese fare, might be better to skip it for the local treats along Dalian or Fuxin Rd.

I have to say the room is better than expected, but the staff in the hotel is really really bad, although it says it is a "foreigner oriented hotel" and " its owner is chinese-american" DONT stay here if you dont speak chinese because NO ONE speaks not even a little english. When i arrived they had my reserve wrong and still wanted to charge me one more night even after i showed my reserve ticket, now try to explain this when they dont know english i wasted two hours in this issue, they made you (like almost everywhere in China) to pay ur whole stay upon arrival so finally when they corrected my reserve (after an english speaking guest helped me explain) i had to pay 4000 rmb (3672 Plus 328 depósito), so the day i had to leave they had to return 328 rmb to me, for this girl at the reception asked me for my card for the refund and using her incredible inteligence and without asking first she refunded 4000 rmb to my card and then wanted to charge 3672 instead of just refunding the 328 rmb from the depósit. Of course the refund isnt inmedeately and my card had then no funds to pay for the 3672... so after almost an hour of trying to understand What she did i had to go to a bank (lucky i had cash and banks open on sunday in Shanghai) i could trade dollars and pay in cash, leaving me with no cash for my next trip and almost losing my flight. Maybe u can think it is no a big deal but i had already spent all my money and if i havent save those dollars i wouldnt have been able to leave the hotel for their own mistake, i mean Why on earth didnt she just returned the 328???? Also it isnt good for non smokers and theres no safe box in the room as stated. Sorry for my english, i hope at least you can get the idea.

Have stayed here several times and will stay again when in Shanghai. Spacious room, good Internet, sumptuous breakfast, central location just two minutes from subway station direct to domestic airport. Staff could do better to pick up some English though! Would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Excellent value for money.

I stayed here for one night, it was quite basic, i couldn't have stayed here longer. There was no restaurant, but the breakfast was plentiful. It looked a bit aged, but was fairly clean. My bathroom didn't smell too good, stale. And the toilet was blocked before i got there, i think this was causing the smell. It doesn't have very good sound proofing, i was tired and was trying to sleep, but i could hear lots of laughter from what seemed very near by. The bed was quite hard, but i find in China some are and in the westernised hotels they are soft. It was about 350 Yuan so good value for money.

Also called The Unity Hotel, is a value for money hotel. The hotel is rather new, rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds. Although the hotel is not located along the bund amist bustling attractions, it is located in a pretty decent district just beside Siping Road Metro Station which is a couple of stops away from Nanjing East. And a short cab ride (5-8mins) away from the bund which has beautiful night views. Book from ctrip.com which offers better rates compared to other websites. On the downside, we had an unpleasant experience with their laundry service that ruin our otherwise perfect stay. We sent some of our undergarments to the laundry, but one of the bras returned with the strap completely cut off by one of their machines and we were only compensated with a neligible amount that was totally insufficient to cover the cost of replacing it. Their breakfast is open for only 2 hours (7-9am), too short by any standards although they claim that this is the norm in Shanghai? On the whole, we will recommend this hotel if you do not use their laundry service.
