A great place to stay! Very friendly local staff who gave us always ideas what to do around. Everything very clean (kitchen, bath, rooms). Central location with a few minutes walk to the beach, stores, bakery… they have a lot of hammocks to chill, main area is on the elevated floor and there are fans around. definitely recommend this hostel for families.

I spent 3 nights there, luckily the receptionist switched me from an 8-beds dorm to a 4-beds dorm. Even so, you absolutely don't have space to move ! The first night I was so sad that my thoughts went to Auschwitz ! Nevertheless I slept well and the other nights I was used to my "dog kennel". The only positive thing was that there was a light and a charger for each bed, and also the bedsheets were changed daily. Good mattress. There was a fan and we left the window and door open (but protected by mosquiro net). Reasonably big kitchen and big terrace with table and chairs. Very clean shower/toilet. There are two water sinks where you can wash your cloths. Quiet place from 23:00, when people on the terrace go to bed. Difficult to recommend this hostel but there are not other good choices, perhaps Blue Iguana. …

It is a cost effective solution for someone just needing a safe, clean, simple place to sleep while doing things in and around Sámara. It has a full kitchen for your use. And a nice terrace and sofa lounge area. The guests were middle aged and older and ask very respectful of each other. Very quiet at all times, especially at night. Private rooms are available too provide a reliable sense of security. The entrance to the hostel is a locked gate and only open when staff is present, otherwise only guests have a key to the gate.

This place was a gem for my kids' (8 and 10 years old) first hostel experience! We stayed in the private room with a double bed and bunk beds - they loved it! And the shower was huge! (Do beware that there is only cold water, but it is hot in Samara, so it is actually refreshing). The communal kitchen was great, and had all the tools needed, and we had a container labeled for our room to put our food in the refrigerator. The common area on the second floor (by the kitchen) had tables and chairs for eating or hanging out, and hammocks (love!) - a really great space. There is another reading nook area on the first floor with beds/futons, but we didn't use it. Also there is an outdoor showering and clothes washing station for after the beach. And thankfully there was A/C and a fan in the room, so super comfortable! The hostel staff were SUPER friendly and helpful! Michelle helped us book our tours and transport to our next destination, and answered any of our questions about local activities etc. Josue greeted us so warmly when we arrived after a VERY long day of travel. The location is great, in the town, and walkable to restaurants, shopping and the beach. Highly recommend! And also, the ice cream place two doors down is really good....and believe me, we tried a lot of ice cream all around Costa Rica! :)…

We had a wonderful stay at Hostel Samara. The comfortable, air conditioned room included a double bed and set of bunk beds. Our own private bathroom and shower. The common area was clean and neat as was the communal kitchen. We enjoyed meeting the wide range of young international travelers. Lots of interesting backgrounds, travel experiences and Costa Rican travel plans. It’s located right in the middle of downtown so everything is no more than a five minute walk - beach, restaurants, grocery stored, ATM, etc. But the best part was Michelle the manager. She had a perpetual smile and cheery comment no matter what time of the day. She made our stay so pleasant and enjoyable.

The hostel was very clean and friendly. We had an room with air conditioning and comfortable beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and OK. The hostel is familiar and if you have any problems you will be helped immediately. The owner Anny always greeted us with a friendly smile. Michelle, a employe, was also very friendly and helpful. We booked a massage by her, which we can warmly recommend. Perfect after a day at the beach. In the evening Michelle made a pina colada for all of us, the best we've ever had. We would love to come back Thank you for eveything

I traveled solo to Samara for 1 week and couldn't be happier with my stay here. The energy is very warm and welcoming, and Annie and the entire staff are extremely friendly and accomodating to whatever you need. I stayed in a shared room that was kept very clean every day, and had 2 large fans, which were clutch. The beds are very comfortable, and the room had its own private bathroom, which was also kept very clean the whole stay. I felt very safe staying there and leaving my belongings there when I went out on my adventures. They did supply me with my own large locker where I could safely lock up my things. Plus, the location of the hostel is perfect. Right in town and walking distance to the beach, market, restaurants, bars, pharmacy, pretty much anything you'd need. Will definitely stay there again when I come back! Highly recommend!!…

I instantly felt at ease walking into Samara hostel. There was an inexplicable sense of security and comfort. Annie and Michelle and the entire staff felt like friends by the end of my week long stay. I originally booked 3 days but kept extending. I’m considering coming back to stay for even longer! The room was big, very clean, had AC ( the powerful fan was adequate most the time), and the en-suite bathroom was wonderful. Simple but safe and clean. It has the warmth of a hostel and the security, hospitality, and organization of a hotel. Theres a big kitchen that’s well organized an setup for many guests cooking at once. The restaurant next door is great as well and you even get a discount! Michelle is also an insanely skilled massage therapist who worked miracles on my sprained foot! Annie had fantastic recommendations for everything and even helped me organize transport to San Jose. If you’re looking for a safe, clean place to stay with local hospitality this is your spot. Thanking you for sharing your warm energy and your space with me! Hope to see you again soon!!…
