The hotel staff is amazing, even though they are under staffed, they manage to get things done and serve with a smile. We enjoyed our stay with my sister.

I think the wifi should be adjusted because it only connects when you inside the rooms, having it available around the premises would be nicer.

Thank you

It was our first break since the start of the Covid lockdown (and during what became a quite short period of easier travel). We had visited the Hotel Numbi's Sunday carvery on previous occasions and decided to take an opportunity to enjoy lunch around the pool once again. Despite all the problems associated with starting up again after the protracted shut-down the Carvery delivered it normal wide range of offerings and good/please service. The wait staff showed a lovely sense of humour with efficient service.

We travelled from Australia and spent 5 nights there in total comfort with great food and drinks in the bar and gardens. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. Not only was the food tops there, we visited their 2 neighbouring associated restaurants, Topolinos a superb Italian and Pioneers where I had the best steak ever and it is so good the South African International Rugby Union team arrived in for dinner the night we were there. The location is only 10 minutes from entry into Kruger National Park, so was perfect for everything we were looking for.

In the pictures this looked like a perfect hotel. Upon arrival we saw that the rooms were in fact spacious, but everything was a bit outdated and not very clean. We had a room on the first floor. When we turned on the lights there were cockroaches, and so many of them. After initial complaints we were moved to a different room but the roaches there were even bigger and with many. We killed at least 10 roaches within the 30 minutes there! We complained again and requested a room on a different floor. This was not an option so the lady at the reception called to see if there was any room in the neighboring hotel (Little Pilgrim’s Boutique) which is apparently owned by the same people but it is very new and had clean (cockroach-free) rooms. Thankfully the service was good. The hotel did notify us that they are looking into solving the problem, so hopefully they fix it on short term!

Numbi Caravan Park seriously under-delivered on what was meant to be a great family break coming out of 12 months of Covid-lockdown. While the staff were very friendly and helpful the noise levels coming from the garden rooms adjacent to our camp site was horrendous. We couldn’t sleep for 2 of our 4 nights there due to a group of very loud and drunk guests who partied until 2am. There doesn’t seem to be policies in place to limit noise as there are in most of the other camp grounds we have stayed at. Hopefully management will look over their policies to prevent such incidents going forward. While the proximity to the park is great, our experience left a bad taste in our mouths and we will most certainly not be returning.

My Email to the establishment is in the images below, regarding my complaints about the roaches and dirty duvets and Booking nightmare. The verbal response I received from the rude condescending Booking lady, not even the duty manager was that I had taken food and a flower to my room, firstly I never took any food and secondly the flower was from woolworths the roaches met me as soon as I opened my door, this place has potential but with the current stuff and no manager there to assist I feel cheated out of what was meant to be a romantic Anniversary getaway. Oh and after lots of arguing with the Booking lady coz apparently roaches are not a good enough reason to get a refund. I was only refunded for 1 nigh. I believe my entire stay should be refunded!

We spent a month in the caravan park, it is one of the best located caravan parks in the Lowveld. It is situated near Graskop, Sabie and then of coarse the Kruger National Park. The staff are very friendly, they keep the ablusion facilities clean and also the caravan park gardens. The bird life and the beautiful gardens are also something to behold. There are also 3 swimming pools.

We had a couple of meals in the hotel which were very good, of course the Sunday Buffet is excellent!

I can really recommend the Hotel Numbi hotel and garden suites as well as the caravan park to any traveller, local or from abroad.

The staff were lovely and very welcoming. They did their best to look after us, which we really appreciated. The room was nice and spacious and comfortable. The view was also nice. Unfortunately the food was not so great and they didn't seem to have many options for vegetarians. However, the staff's helpfulness made up for it. They did try to accommodate as they could.

I had the great misfortune of staying at the Hotel Numbi for four nights while visiting Kruger National Park in October 2006 with a group of six. The only thing that made our nights at this hotel tolerable were the magnificent days we spent at Kruger. Coming back to the hotel every evening, we dreaded what else would go wrong.

On our first night, the air conditioning in two of our rooms was not working, and the staff were unable to fix it that night -- and they did not seem to be the least bothered by the outage. Worse, the maid had left the window open in my room, letting the mosquitoes in. (Considering that Kruger is a malaria-endemic area, the hotel's lackadaisical attitude toward mosquito control is horrifying: There are no mosquito nets, the windows have no screens, the balcony doors do not seal well, and the staff appears to have absolutely no malaria-control training. When I asked for mosquito repellent, I was handed a can of cockroach spray instead, with the comment "That's what we use.")

On check-in, my linens were filthy. The sheets were dingy with dirt stains, and the blanket had what appeared to be an unspeakable masculine-type stain on it. There were a couple of small insects in the bed (but as the manager informed me: "This is Africa").

On our second night, although the two air conditioners that had been broken the first night had been fixed, yet another of our group's rooms was without air conditioning.

On our third morning, when we woke up at 4:30 a.m. for our safari, we found no water whatsoever in our sinks, toilets, or showers. (I discovered days later in my conversation with the hotel owner that there had been an outage in the town's water main, but the hotel management made no effort to inform the guests of the cause of the problem or to apologize for the inconvenience.)

On our fourth morning, when most of our group left before breakfast for a bush walk, one person in our party who had decided not to join us on the outing discovered that breakfast (which was included in our room rate) had been canceled because the hotel management "thought everybody would be gone." He also had no hot water in his shower.

Although the hotel's physical facilities appear quite nice in the brochure and on the website, we were very disappointed. The lobby is Spartan, dark, and hot. The main restaurant is hot and not air conditioned, with mosquitoes. Despite the "no pets" policy, there were at least two cats apparently living in the hotel lobby and restaurant. There were no laundry facilities, and the laundry service was expensive (US$1 for a piece of underwear). The rooms are decently furnished, but the TV service is substandard (no CNN), and the room doors don't have chains or double-locks and use with old-fashioned keys. The maid unceremoniously walked in on one member of our group while he was on the toilet, without knocking. On the positive side, the bathrooms are nicely renovated in most (but not all) rooms, there are large closets in most (but not all) rooms, the premium restaurant is nicely appointed, and the hotel is set back sufficiently from the street to prevent any traffic noise.

The food in the main dining room for the evening meal was abundant, but it was the same stuff from night to night, and we found few of the offerings tasty. Breakfast was just fair. Service was pleasant but very slow; when the orange juice ran out every morning, for example, it would take a very long time for it to be refilled. Although the management had promised to accommodate my vegan diet, they failed miserable every night, despite their repeated promises that they would do better the following evening. For some reason, the words "no dairy" didn't seem to register, resulting in spinach with feta cheese one night and cream sauce the next. (On the final night, I instead had the best dinner of my stay at the yummy Indian restaurant in the adjoining mall.)

The final and biggest insult, though, came at the end of my stay. When I tried to complain to the manager about all the problems, he told me he was "too busy" to speak with me. When I called the owner by telephone the next day to report the problems, he told me quite clearly that I was "a very difficult customer to please." I acknowledge that I have a difficult diet to accommodate, but I do not think demanding air conditioning, hot water, and reasonable malaria control is being difficult.

I would never return to the Hotel Numbi, and regret my ever having stayed there. Had I not been with a group, I would have checked out on my first night.
