Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rude staff, especially in the kitchen. Restaurant menu is one page. Refuse to serve room service menu in the restaurant. Ice is a problem. Wifi is slower than dialup internet. Food and drinks is very expensive. Rules apply only to certain people. Overall a bad experience

If you follow your GPS coming from Pretoria you have to go through a gravel road, the place inside is nice, lots of areas to lounge around with good lake views, great variety of food, previous reviews about unfriendly staff definitely correct hence the lower rating

We visited the hotel over the Easter weekend. Clean, well maintained hotel with spacious rooms and a good breakfast. Only thing that needs to be improved is the service level of the staff during the day. Great location. Will visit again.

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend. I give it 4/5 stars because while the facilities are reasonably good, the service can be improved. I'm happy to accept that it is a COVID19 issue - the breakfast on offer is very poor. Basically the same breakfast options daily, the juice is not real, no cereal - we were very surprised to say the least. Other than that, the rooms on the lakeside are the best.

Hubby and I were travelling as part of a group and one of our stops was at the Pine Lake Inn. I just read a review by someone saying it was the worst service they ever experienced from front desk staff...are they sure they reviewed the right hotel? We had a wonderful experience with the front desk staff and ALL the staff at the hotel. It's really hard to imagine they weren't friendly because the hostess was unbelievable. She was warm and welcoming and very helpful. Our room was very comfortable and clean and a decent size. We used the pool and enjoyed it very much. The peacock quite enjoyed watching us in the pool. We walked down to the water ... lovely property. We had dinner and breakfast at the Inn and we were happy with both meals. Yes, we would definitely go back.

No greetings, just glum faces and a resistance to answer questions with any emotion or help. we felt that we were disturbing them and being a nuisance eventually asked to speak to the manager because we had a problem with the room we booked. she arrived just as gloomy but at least resolved our problem the dinner, a buffet was equally shocking, both in quality and price. R240 per head for a selection of over well done beef, lamb cutlets that were black! and other inferior offerings. Just one person carving which led to long queues of frustrated tourists

This place is so beautiful, it has a history with its old look (Vintage) the stuff is helpful. The rastuarant serves the greatest food, we didn’t even have to go outside to look for food. And the rooms are beautiful as well, I recommend this place for relaxation.

We have just stayed here for three days so that we could visit Kruger Park for two safari drives. It’s such a lovely peaceful place. It’s really lovely. Fabulous views over the lake, lovely swimming pool with a resident peacock on the terrace! The room was very comfortable, plenty of space and a lovely view across the lake. The staff were perfect. Very courteous, polite and helpful. Thank you for making our stay in white river so enjoyable. If we return to Kruger Park we will definitely stay here again.
