We play golf here on a regular basis. It’s a wonderful course and everyone is super friendly. Stephen the golf pro is a great guy and a brilliant teacher. The scenery on the course is amazing. You can have a drink and food afterwards in the restaurant.

We stayed at New Forest last week as we were in the area for a wedding. The accommodations were comfortable, the scenery lovely, and the food in the restaurant, especially the breakfast, quite tasty. However, the reason I write this review is because of the incredible effort of the staff. Jimmy, in particular, was helpful and hospitable beyond measure, and made our family's trip all the more special because of it. A historian of the estate, a local guide, and a dynamite problem solver. In a world of chaos and hopelessness, it is comforting to know there are people like Jimmy out there, holding it all together.

Went here today someone in my party rang ahead and booked for 5 adults 1 high chair, informed that there would be a man with dementia in our party so it’s a last minute booking. We were told he can slot us in if we arrive within 5 minutes so we did. We arrived on time driving from another town, as we arrived the manager came up to me and said we’d be another few minutes, so we waited approx 5/10 minutes in the reception area and sat my disabled dad down as he was getting anxious and after waiting the general manager loudly and infront of people came up to me and said you have more than you booked here, there is 7 seats needed we only have you set for 5. I said oh sorry I didn’t realise I had to book for the newborn baby I had with me who was 12 weeks old, obviously doesn’t require a seat. I will hold her. He said no you may go and turned around and walked into the dining room to end the conversation. Then came back and said you should’ve booked it properly and again turned his back to us and walked away, all of us looking at each other confused I even apologised and said sorry I can put the buggy into the car and il carry them on my lap. He said no it doesn’t matter we can’t accommodate you, I then offered to leave so my family and my dad who is extremely far gone in terms of his dementia was getting extremely confused and scared. I then left, he came back then to my mother and told my mother it’s her own fault for not booking correctly. Having worked in multiple restaurants years ago as well as speaking to colleagues who I previously did work for through my job who work in one of the biggest five star hotels / golf resorts in Ireland informed me this is not how things are done and is not in any way normal to have to book for a 12 week old and suggested we were being refused on another basis and the baby was being used as a bad excuse, said person being a general manager of this golf resort in Ireland said he presumed it may be for my dads disability. It was lashing rain and I left to walk to the car park in the rain with my two children aged 1 and 12 weeks and very confused disorientated father. The general manager then 10 minutes later after arguing g with my mother after she asked to speak to the owner said he was in hospital so he cannot talk to us but he will seat us then suddenly he was able. I did not return as the walk to the car park was extremely long in the rain (there is no disability parking here so we were not parked near the door) my two babies were saturated and I was crying due to the spectacle being made. The people in my party who did stay informed me that multiple walk ins came in during this time as well as multiple empty tables not in use, so it appears there was no need to not allow us to bring my 12 week. Having spent the drive home crying, with two upset children it is safe to say I would not ever return this place again. The food is glorified bar food and I should have known management would be the same, considering he spent the time during the meal speaking to his staff like dogs.

Stayed Here Last Weekend while attending a Wedding in Tyrrellspass! Arrived Friday Night into a warm cosy Lodge! The Lodge itself is Self Catering with 2 Bedrooms, Kitchen, Living Room and Bathroom, Lots of space for myself and my missus but honestly could've catered for up to 4 or 6 People easy! Beds were nice and comfy and warm water 24/7. The lodges is surrounded by the Golf Course and are located next to the Main House which houses the Clubhouse and Restaurant! While we didn't get to sample the Lunch or Dinner we did order Breakfast baps the morning after the wedding which were really tasty and a nice way to start the day after a night on the tiles. One thing that can't go overlooked though is the staff at this place! The Day of the wedding myself and my partner had our Taxi to Tyrrellspass cancel on us last minute leaving us stranded with no way to town. Not A Problem, the General Manager Jimmy had one of the Servers Aimee Drop us into town on time for a great day! Thank You both! A Fabulous Spot! Definitely a Place I'll be Returning to golf someday!

Stayed for 2 nights in the self-catering lodges for New years. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms, big and spacious living room/kitchen and a patio, which was perfect for our dog. We dined in the restaurant in the main house and food and service were very good. Loved the estate, lovely walks around the golf course and good base in general to explore the surrounding areas. Would happily go back for another peaceful weekend.

This is our third stay at New Forest. We always enjoy our stay there but felt compelled after this stay to write a review. We travel as a mature couple with our well behaved Labrador a lot but New Forest reminds us what excellent service is really like. For this trip we stayed for 2 nights in Lodge no 9. Check in was very easy, the heating was on so it was warm cosy & extremely clean when we arrived. Kitchen has all u need including complementary tea, coffee, sugar and milk. The living room is comfy & looks out over the golf course. We ate breakfast (tasty baps) which is available until noon each day and had dinner one evening. Food is high quality and the staff are well trained and friendly. My partner played golf and rates the course highly. There are plenty of places to walk your dog on a lead and the GM loves dogs. So much to do close by we ate one night in Browns in Tyrell’s Pass and had a lovely visit to the local pub Gonouds which has a cosy fire in winter. We left feeling relaxed and if you compare prices with other big name country estates New Forest is great value and very relaxed. The place is an absolute credit to James the GM and his team, who all live locally so have a great passion for the quality of experience guests have. As we left they were preparing for a big wedding the next day and the care & attention they were all putting into the prep was so obvious. .

Stayed in lodge No.7 for 3 nights (16th-19th)... First of all I’d like to highlight that when we arrived absolutely no information was given to us when checking-in in relation to meal times of the restaurant, contact numbers, local attractions/ shops destinations or the usual stuff that gets told to you when you check-in somewhere. It is so important that this should be made available to make guests feel welcomed to any property. When we were escorted to the lodge the first impressions of the lodge was okay we were a bit surprised at the amount of space the lodge offered. Then we started noticing things after an hour or so of settling in such as practically no WiFi (which is stated is available throughout) or a signal that at most held for 10 seconds then drops completely away leaving you with nothing (no cellular signal either by the way). Next thing we noticed was when one of our party went to use the bathroom and was greeted by a god awful non-mistakable sewage smell coming from the downstairs bathroom which quickly expanded throughout the lodge & left us running for sprays. Of course this was relayed to the reception immediately via Facebook messenger as there were no telephones, the message was read but we received no reply so we decided to physically go to reception and relay this & We were promised a WiFi booster and did receive this the following day after having to chase it up as I had previously expressed WiFi was essential due to work commitments. We also re-highlighted the sewage smell of the downstairs bathroom to the polite young man who brought us the WiFi booster whom said he’d pass it on about the sewage smell. Next thing we started noticing was the cleanliness of the place it was just average and could of been cleaner in our eyes considering the price of the place ie grease stains wiped off cooker hood light & the surrounding cupboards, marks of dirt around doors & handles, dust & cobwebs behind tv and cobwebs from the side of kitchen cupboards. The sofas that were in the property were a bit worst for wear as well the leather sofas springs were near popping out and sank in the middle as for the cloth sofa which should of never been in a pet friendly accommodation smelt real bad, we had to spray it a few times to try and disguise the bad smells coming from it (which we had to go out and purchase). We also had to literally fight with the refrigerator door to keep it closed as it kept opening by itself. As for the upstairs area we never found a problem except for 2 minor things the dirt marks around door handles of the doors and there could of been more of an effort made to remove limescale marks around the seams of the shower doors. The beds were comfy, firm & also clean. Also a tip for the cleaners of the lodges it would be nice to leave a few extra bin liners so the bins can be emptied more regularly as stated on the notice on the wall. I was actually quite surprised to find these faults after reading such good reviews which is what attracted me to this place but I believe it’s better for the proprietors to have knowledge of these things to improve their service. The only resolution we received was the WiFi booster heard nothing back about the sewage smell.

Myself and 2 friends just wanted to get away for the weekend & have a catch up . We stayed in the Superior Apartment and it was amazing . 3 stories and so clean . From check in till check out the staff couldn’t do enough for us . The restaurant food it divine and we all enjoyed our meal . Obviously with covid we booked it and could only stay the 90moms but that was fine we went back to our apartment and spent the night there . It’s not walking distance to anywhere else but Athlone is only 30mins or so away so we went there the next day . They have a driving range so kids might live that but otherwise not much more to do for them. I think it would suit couples or small groups best.

This place has to be one of Ireland’s best kept secrets. We have just had the most wonderful family gathering here. 26 of us across 4 generations were celebrating our amazing mother’s birthday 🎂. We arrived on Friday evening to a wonderful , warm and friendly welcome from Paul ,who might I add was outstanding in the way he dealt with me since my first enquiry back last November. His professionalisms yet friendly demeanor was much appreciated. The food, accommodation and over all experience was excellent. All of the staff especially Chanell,Maggie, Meagan and the wonderful “jiving” Martin were wonderful. John , Jimmy ,Paul and all of the staff made it a wonderful weekend and one we as family will remember and reminisce about for many a long day. Thank you.
