Yosemite Bed and Breakfast is gently hidden down a country lane, nestled in the oaks and pines. It is located just five miles west of the historic gold mining town of Mariposa, and 45 minutes from Yosemite National Park. Leave the city with its noise and lights and enjoy a night where you can gaze at the brilliant stars in the sky and experience a different kind of quiet, only to be ocassionally interrupted by the song of a bird, the chirp of a cricket or the croak of a frog. Wild life watching and our resident hummingbirds remain star attractions. Our facilities include an independent, fully furnished 2 bedroom cottage and 2 individual rooms each with their own private bathroom. The cottage sleeps 2 couples or 4 people very comfortably. It is possible to sleep 6 with the sofa bed.

This B&B is located a short drive away from civilization and that’s a positive thing. When we arrived we knew we had arrived in heaven. It’s a very scenic place with nice views. The room was clean and nice size. We had the most peaceful stay there. You could see and feel that the hosts have really though about what a tourist could need for a convenient stay. I would especially like to commend the breakfast which was just lovely. We stayed there for two night and both breakfasts were totally different and one more delicious the the other. I would return there without hesitation.

Clay and Joy are amazing hosts. They go out of their way to make guests feel at home. Such a lovely place too. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy, and the food is fantastic. Yosemite Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful mountain retreat.

There is no restaurant at this place, but they have a gas BBQ the guests can use. We picked up salads and stuff for the BBQ from Mariposa and started grilling when the sun was about to go behind the mountains. We sat at their terrace and enjoyed the views. There we loads of hummingbirds around. Couple of black crows paid a visit. Then wild turkeys started gathering and clumsily flew to trees downhill to be safe from the predators overnight. We counted fifteen. As it was getting dark, grasshoppers stared to making a proper racket. While all this was happening in front of us we were enjoying our BBG dinner, which was very nice, but probably I could have eaten cardboard and still be happy. It was now dark and we enjoyed wine after dinner. Suddenly something large moved just outside the terrace. Five deers casually walked past just few meters away from us, ate some grass for a few minutes, stared at us occasionally, and then carried on. I’m not sure how one can have a better dinner! View from the terrace in the picture.…

We had the most amazing 2 nights staying with Clay and Joy. They are so friendly and welcoming it was like staying with family. We were only supposed to stay one night but 10 minutes after arriving we decided to book another night as it is so beautiful there. The B and B is surrounded by woodland and there is a large terrace overlooking the valley which is stunning. Each morning Joy and Clay cook an amazing breakfast for all guests to enjoy. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to stay just 5 minutes from Mariposa.

This was a Bed NO Breakfast!!! This place was not as advertised. We got there on time late in the afternoon but were immediately told that there is no breakfast because his cook "was gone". His wife is the cook. So there were two days of "Bed and Breakfast" with NO BREAKFAST!!!!!! This creepy little jerk could have called or email us this in advance but no, he wanted his money. It was too late to go find better lodging which would have been just about anywhere! Being lied to. This was our first "bed and breakfast" The creepy little jerk claims that he "upgraded" our room. How would I know since I would not know one room from another. He put on a little show, showing us a crappy room and then showing us a better one. How would I know which one I actually had reserved in the first place? We could not wait to get the hell out of there. What a waste of money. The bed was way too soft and made us ache all over, almost like sleeping in a hammock! This was our first Bed and Breakfast. It is also OUR LAST BED AND BREAKFAST!!!…

Response from Yosemite B, Owner at Yosemite Bed and Breakfast

Amazed and confused. When you arrived I explained our family emergency to you. I offered to relocate you with my help. Instead, you decide to accept both an upgrade on your room and a discount in price to offset the lack of breakfast. You seemed very nice and understanding. Since then you have both written us this very abusive review and ask for a full refund. I think the situation is pretty self explanatory.

We didn't want to drive all the way to Yosemite as we arrived into San Francisco at 6pm in the evening after a long flight from Europe. Our wonderful hosts gave us clear instructions and left signs for us to find our room easily late at night when we made it to the property. And how lovely it was to wake up to the deer and hummingbirds and then the home cooked breakfast by Joy... Wonderful hosts and a truly lovely place to stay, highly recommended and will definitely come back! Thank you so much!!

We’ve had the most amazing time here, felt very welcomed by Clayton and Joy. Very lovely couple. The room was super homely, clean with comfortable bed and the breakfast... I’m still dreaming about them. Loving the fact that this home is in perfect harmony with nature...

Although 30 mins from Yosemite Park entrance it is well worth staying here. Our hosts were fantastic and the breakfasts each morning were out of this world, Waking up to the local wildlife and the views were incredible. Accommodation was superb and we were very well looked after. Yosemite was a great experience and knowing we had such a lovely place to come home to each night made the experience one we will not forget

An Absolutely fab place to stay We were relieved to have found this place to stay near Yosemite for part of our fly drive around California. Joy & Clay were great hosts, accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. Bedroom and bathroom well equipped. The area was so peaceful it was great & the wildlife at the back of the seating area was great with seeing deer & hummingbirds .. something we don’t get to see in the UK obviously. Breakfast was lovely - our only regret we set of early for Yosemite and so opted to miss our first morning eating here because the queues into the entrance were noted to be long and the reviews were right so based on this our only niggle would be to have an earlier breakfast . On asking for recommendations for eating in town we were given a list to help us on our way - perfect . We booked in at Charles street dinner house and omg it was great . Ignore the decor and book it ... staff are lovely and food is plentiful. We were recommend Jantz cafe & bakery ( think that’s the correct spelling ) for grabbing packed lunch ahead of our day in Yosemite and there you can have fresh sandwiches made up . Lovely accommodating couple . We used a large store/supermarket at top of the town where we found what we needed for our 2 nights in Mariposa . If we ever had the chance to visit the area again we’d definitely book here and certainly recommend this accommodation. It’s August now and we look back on our trip around California for our belated honeymoon with great fondness and our stay with you was the best out them all . Thank you , Heidi & Mike . UK …

We stayed here for 2 nights during our travels. The location is amazing! Great scenery and right in the middle of no where, this is great after coming from the city! Clay and Joy are the best hosts, they provided recommendations on places to go for dinner in the evening, provided a map and scoring guide for the best and worst places. We stayed in the Sierra room, it was great! In the room you get a TV with satellite channels, free WiFi, M&M’s, coffee machine and microwave popcorn! In a great location with great hosts, highly recommended.
