Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lori, manager is very friendly and works hard to make sure guests are comfortable. Breakfast has more choices than competition. Waffles, eggs etc rooms decent size and the lobby is welcoming with billards and foreplace. We will come back again. kevin n Ginger.

Do not waste your money on this hotel. It is the only game in Madelia but it is not worth it. Drive the extra 10 or 20 miles to another city. The only thing good was that the front staff was present and friendly. The rooms are outdated, worn, and frankly, scarey; the continental breakfast (during COVID-19 times) used community butter tubs and condiments; my bags and clothes are staying in the garage for at least 3 days to be sure I don't have any stowaway creatures. We put out the Do Not Disturb sign so that no one would come into the room and the cleaning staff still came in. There were cigarette holes in the linens. It is definitely sub par and extremely overpriced. A fair price for a room/hotel of this quality is more like $49/night -- not $100-plus. Definitely not staying here again.

I don’t like negative reviews. But I am furious, I tried to spend a relaxing couple of days dealing with a personal matter and left infuriated by the owner or manager Lori. This lady lacked poise, hygiene standards and manners to be running what your site says is a 5-star hotel. She was hounding people to write a 5-star review even offering to take their phone and do it for them. She complained she was the only worker and could never get a day off, told us she was sleeping when we arrived in the afternoon, breakfast was like a disaster(not filled or refreshed) ,greasy tables, garbage on the floor, pool not working, drain clogging in shower- her response I know, dirty windows, sludge in side of tub, toilet questionably clean, The entire time Lori was outside smoking or nowhere to be found.

My son and I needed a place to stay for the night while driving through. We were very happy with our stay at this hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly and the rooms were very clean. It was a quaint and quiet hotel. Would definitely stay at again!

I am most impressed with the warmth of the employees and comfort of this property. Lori, the Manager, will go out of her way to ensure guests are taken care of 24/7. This hotel is a great place for a family stay-cation or even a romantic getaway in a fabulous whirlpool suite. From cuddling up by the fireplace in the lobby on a cold Minnesota winters night to playing some billiards with your party or just enjoying some delicious cuisine delivered from one of the neighborhood restaurants; this hotel is casual, friendly and cozy enough to feel like home. Certainly place Madelia Hotel & Suites on your recommended travel list.

Under new management, great service and a good place to stay. It used to be AmericInn and GrandStay so the quality is still there. Free breakfast and friendly service for a small family town environment. Comfortable mattresses and loved their Jacuzzi suite. Will definitely come again.

We got caught on December 23rd, 2020 in the blizzard and this hotel was where we found refuge. The lady who ran the desk was very kind and helpful. What was probably supposed to be an average day turned into probably the busiest ever for her. She worked so hard to meet everyone's needs and to find accommodations for as many people as she could. The hotel itself was just okay, but it had heat, beds and a bathroom. The beds were uncomfortable for us. The rooms need updating and the pool was closed with algae floating all over it.

This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a place off the beaten path--especially if you want to avoid the $$$ of the Holiday Inn in New Ulm or the chains in Mankato. Miko was incredibly friendly and very helpful--especially given the limitations of some services during this time of plague in our country. I imagine the breakfast bar is quite lovely when available. Wifi coverage was good throughout the property. It would be nice to have coffee available upon arrival, but again--covid. Room was comfortable and clean. This is a great local place with friendly help and pleasant small town conversation!

Loved the location. Room was just what we needed and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were incredible. There was easily enough room for the two of us to be comfortable. Closet and hangers. Very clean. House keeping was incredible. I would definitely stay here again. My favourite of the 4 hotels I’ve tried in the city. The location in my eyes cannot be best. You’re not too close to the mayhem but also not to far. Close to the subway or a walk away from the must sees
