Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although we were visiting during record low temperatures---staff went above & beyond for our visit. Dropping off cardboard boxes for us to take to bear the frigid temps at Arrowhead Stadium...honored our early check in request. Location was amazing and we could see why it is a desirable spot for nightlife & game day festivities. The cold didn't allow us to really enjoy the Power & Lights District but it is only one block away.

Hotel's Favourite
We held my daughters wedding reception at The President on May 5th and we had the most wonderful experience. The hotel is so so beautiful- historic and charming ( and smells really good!). The rooms were so comfy and well decorated. The wedding coordinator , Maurine Lenahan, was wonderful. We weren’t nervous at all - Maurine had everything planned so perfectly. Several of our guests used the word “ perfect” when describing this hotel for a wedding reception. The food was wonderful and everything just moved along perfectly. We didn’t have a wedding planner - just Maurine and I can’t imagine a more seamless, easy experience! It actually was kind of perfect!

Enjoyed a corner King Jr suite looking South. Very nice view. Room was neat and clean. Bed was comfy. Extraordinary attention to detail in the lobby and Walnut Room. It was clear the proprietor which bought the hotel about a decade ago loved the place and restored it to the glory which it once was. Staff was friendly. The only rub was during checkout I asked the guy, "how are you today," and he answered, "yes". I repeated the question and he deliberately answered the same way. Not a fan of that interaction, but otherwise the entire experience was excellent. Would definitely stay again at this hotel.

I have been traveling with Hilton for over 20 years, most as a diamond member. This is the first time I left mid stay. After an l bad experience with a front desk person and they way the GM brushed as if I was the issue I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome at the hotel.

The hotel lobby is beautiful and a great location, but that’s where things end. Very poor experience with a dirty bathroom, no hand soap, and low quality onsite dining. I am a diamond member, booked a night on points and therefore didn’t have a card on file. I charged dinner to the room and on the same day I checked out, I receive a voicemail threatening my charges to go to collections if I didn’t call back with a card. Very unprofessional and I would never stay here again.

Overall we had an amazing wedding! It is a gorgeous ballroom! We did have a few issues which is why I am only giving 4 stars. We started with Keyli when we booked then Maurine took over. We were not informed of Keyli leaving until I had to call the hotel because I was not getting responses to e-mails. Maurine was great to work with! We did have a few hiccups along the way on food allergies, parking passes and additional fees that were not in the contract but we were able to get those straightened out. I think overall the hotel service was lacking. My parents checked into the hotel on Thursday and absolutely no acknowledgement about being the parents of the bride even though it was associated with their reservation. For the amount of money spent, they expected at least a "congratulations". On Friday, the groom tried checking into his room early (it was a reservation under my Hilton account because we used points). He was told a room was ready but he could not check in because he was not a Hilton Honors member. He goes "But I'm the groom does that count for anything?" and they told him no. Luckily, I was able to call Maurine and she was able to get him checked in. We also had welcome bags for our guests to be handed out as they checked in. We dropped those off Thursday morning to the front desk. We found out that halfway through people checking in on Friday that the front desk was not handing them out. Again, Maurine came through and hand delivered the bags for those that had already checked in. Overall, the reception itself was great! However, again the service was a bit subpar. The waitstaff was not refilling water glasses to the point the Mother of the Bride was refilling glasses and asking for pitchers to be refilled. Again, Maurine saw that and made sure to fix it. You could tell they were understaffed (a problem with all hospitality establishments right now) but I am just thankful we did not add on the tableside wine service because I do not think they would have been able to provide it.

This is a boutique hotel in KC that was probably refurbished fairly recently. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. It's a nice property. If you have a good deal and are looking for a place to crash, it's not bad. Major issues for me were a) the street noise and b) the lackluster breakfast and lack of major amenities (like room service - I'm not sure, but we were not able to get room service after 9 pm - there may actually be no room service). Room noise: You are near a major interstate and the noise is significant. But you're also in downtown KC, which can be noisy with sirens, etc. I was on the 7th floor and it was LOUD and made for a very unpleasant night sleep. Why they didn't invest a bit more in soundproof windows is anyone's guess. Because it's bad. Food: There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel, and I didn't try that. But the HIlton buffet breakfast was disappointing. It's the usual current Hilton fake breakfast food from something like a Residence Inn or a Courtyard. For my second day I actually just walked up the street to to the Lowes Hotel, which has an incredible breakfast. And yes, I recommend the Lowes 100% as a place to stay in downtown KC So if you're looking for more of a full-service hotel, this isn't it. It's more like staying in a lower-end property but with a nicer, higher-quality vibe and better rooms (and the rooms are really nice). In short: "meh".

This is an overall nice hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were quiet and clean with comfortable beds. The meeting space was great and the bar had a great selection. The gentleman running the coffee shop was not friendly and could use a few customer service trainings but overall a great hotel.

I planned a trip to KC to celebrate my partner’s 61st birthday. Being a Hilton family member I first look at their properties. The President looked like a charming place and I love historical buildings so I gave it a chance. After booking it I read several reviews and wondered if I made a mistake. I tried checking in at 1:30 knowing it probably wasn’t going to happen but mostly to park my car in the garage. The gentleman behind the counter made that happen so we did not have to find a garage in the meantime. We did not get into our room until after 4:30 but had found a dive bar named The Zoo so didn’t really care. I chose room 110 located on the mezzanine level and it turned out to be a great choice - larger than the other rooms and no need to use the elevator. We heard very little noise from the interior but did have some traffic noise not uncommon for a hotel in a city. The bathroom had a vent fan that turned on automatically upon entry. Odd that there was no fridge or microwave but we didn’t really miss them. We did enjoy a few cocktails in the Drum Room. Pricy but well made and the atmosphere was great. All-in-all we had a great visit and would stay again!

Had a great stay for a first time. Was a bit hesitant as this is an older property, but it was well maintained, the staff was friendly, and our room was nice. I actually left a coat there and they FedExed it to me. It is a great location near the Power & Light District. Plenty of restaurants/bars within walking distance. A few things to note if you are going there: 1) limited parking in front while you check in, and you will need the parking tag before parking in the garage next door. More space in back to park while you check in, but you will have to walk around the hotel to the front as you need a key to get in the back. 2) It is an older property, but we found it well maintained and we had a nice, clean room. 3) There was no microwave nor frig in our junior king suite.
