We had our company annual price&educational trip to Lanzarote and stayed at the Secrets Lanzarote. It was an amazing week. The hotel area was super good to our needs and the staff was very kind and professional. I especially liked the all inclusive, since it was really an all inclusive for us. Thank you very much! :)

Dont be taken in by the “ romantic couples “ 5 star experience nonsense in the adverts - large delegation of Americans on a corporate freebie ruined it for us. Need to decide where they want to target their market and stop misleading people as to what they’re about

What a fabulous hotel!! The main lobby and bar is stunning! Great welcome with a glass of champagne! Really friendly staff who go out of their way to help! The main pool area is lovely so don’t worry if you aren’t a preferred guest - you will still have a lovely time! The gym is really well equipped and the spa looks stunning. There is also a little beach and a brilliant sports bar tucked away if you want to keep on top of sport! The rooms are lovely with a huge bed and satellite TV! The guest experience manager Laura is super friendly. Great location away from it all but only a 10 minute walk from a marina full of bars and restaurants! Perfect!

We booked an Adults only holiday with “Preferred Club” benefits but were disappointed by the overall quality of the resort, the food and our treatment on the last day. Starting with the latter we, and may othetrs were made ot feel like secnd class citizens due to a large cororate event. Even though advertised as adult only, on the last day the resort was opened to children who were visible and audible throughout the resort. We would not have booked Secrets if we had known this at the time of booking. In addition the preferred club facilities were not available in full on the last day with no separate breakfast facility as advertised, no food or cava in the Club Lounge and no lunch service in the restaurant in the preferred club area. To be fair we were offered an equivalent a la cart lunch when I complained to hotel management but this should not have been necessary. Furthermore there was no late checkout (normal in this type of hotel at this level, and normally offered according to other guests), and no courtesy room available to shower and change before the flight. The above is completely unacceptable in any resort let alone a luxury “5 Star” and it was clear the hotel was only interested in its lucrative corporate client on that day. Despite being advertised as such and mentioned in other reviews this is not in my view a 5 star hotel. It has some excellent staff and food in the buffet and grill was very good. However, neither Oceana or Portofino are anything like 5 star. Oceana because it has an extremely limited menu (a fish restaurant with only 2 main course fish dishes on the menu) and average quality, and Portofino because the food is nowhere near the standard expected with a quantity not quality, and everything drowned in cheese (and I’m a cheese lover). In addition, the quality of food in the Preferred lunch restaurant was also well below 5 star with for example, cheap re-constituted ham used in the Club sandwich despite excellent Spanish ham available elsewhere in the resort. Quality here was similar to an average English Pub. Other complaints are tired décor in the accommodation areas with tatty doors on many rooms, discoloured grout in the showers and although the rooms were well cleaned the corridors and stairways were not touched in at least 5 days. In the gym, 2 out of 3 treadmills were broken or not working properly. Walls in the rooms are also thin with poor sound proofing and we were woken twice by people arguing in an ajacent room. Overall a disappointing holiday and we would not return to this resort.

4-5 stays here. This haven of peace is no longer. From now on, entertainment at 3:00 p.m. at the swimming pool, at 7:00 p.m. at the restaurant (World Café) and 9:00 p.m. at the swimming pool. Before it was only in the evening and indoors (except parties). Fed up with pseudo-singers, karaoke style, who massacre Whitney, The Beatles or Ben E. King. At breakfast no juice (except apple), the hotel will tell me that I just have to ask, but I believe that this should be offered. The quality of dishes has deteriorated for all restaurants - excluding buffets - just look at the quantities on the plates returning to the kitchen. The Chef should ask himself questions... One example among many: one day I take a pizza (ham/mushrooms), I take it again 4 days later, it arrives with canned mushrooms -> return to the kitchen. I'm obviously not the only one disappointed. For New Year's dinner: gigantic buffet but no foie gras. No fireworks, either!!! We had a superb suite with a 50 m² terrace, but almost unusable as the smells of sewage were so strong (despite several interventions by the technical service), the outdoor jacuzzi broke down twice and the people who take the elevator see you in the jacuzzi (private?). But the worst experience was certainly the fact that the upper fixing of the WC glass door was no longer holding and the door was in danger of falling. We had notified reception on 12/30 at 6:00 p.m., they came on 12/31 around 6:00 p.m., see photo. No way to get ready comfortably, we had to use the hotel's shared toilets before going to the year reception. The swimming pools are not heated (except one, slightly), which is not worthy of a 5* The kindness, professionalism and efficiency of the staff in contact with customers is impeccable. The quality/price ratio certainly needs to be re-evaluated, take your precautions.

We visited this hotel at exactly the same time as last year - it is advertised as ‘a tranquil adults only’ ‘Your only distraction will be the sound of the ocean waves’ - wrong and wrong! We arrived, so excited after our stay the previous year - only to walk in the lobby and the tables were laid out with a buffet for a work convention? There were 350 people from an American company staying there and it felt like they took over everything! We were looking forward to our romantic dinners however the hotel had divided part of the dining room in Portofino to accommodate the business convention - and it was so noisy. We then went to try and hear the entertainment but unfortunately the bands were trying to compete with all the noise but the American business people won! We had this for 6 days of our 10 day stay - had the hotel advised us of this we would have cancelled and gone elsewhere as this is certainly not what we paid for nor expected. There were rumours that there was going to be another ‘convention’ descending soon so we were glad to be leaving. Other issues we had were noises with the plumbing in our room (a really loud bubbling sound that came through the sinks) and it seemed to get worse and worse - we thought it happened when the neighbours flushed their toilet however the hotel got maintenance to check and said all was ok - they also offered a room move for us but that would have been too much upheaval. I requested an ironing board for the room and got a table top one which I couldn’t use on any of the surfaces as the iron lead wasn’t long enough so I had to place the board on the floor and bend over to iron - I let guest services know and they got a full size one sent to the room - which I was going to use the next day to complete the ironing but that was taken away the next morning before I had chance. I requested it again for the full stay and they bought me an ironing board but no iron! Happy result once the iron was delivered I had them both for the length of my stay. As for dinner - as my husband is a Coeliac - we agreed with the hotel prior to our stay that I would send a menu of what we would like for dinner each night and that we would eat in the Portofino every night at the same time to avoid any confusion - I would eat the same as my husband so he didn’t feel he was missing out on anything. One of the best dishes that the chef did was gluten free cauliflower cheese with ham- we had had it the previous year and loved it - on our first week we had it again - it didn’t have ham but we weren’t too perturbed as the gluten free cauliflower cheese itself was gorgeous - we ordered it again for the second week and this time it had ham on it - however when we ate through the top layer there was what tasted like an Italian tomato sauce at the bottom of it - not what we ordered nor wanted! Food up till the dinner the previous evening had been pretty good- that night we had asked for Plain Roast Chicken with no herbs with fries and we got chicken cooked in garlic - my husband had not eaten properly for 24 hours - as breakfast did not go well that day either - we had to walk out after being served the cauliflower cheese as my husband had an upset stomach due to the stress. We both like plain simple food which is not hard to cook which is why I could not understand how they kept getting it wrong?! I even got our order for breakfast translated into Spanish on Google but still things went wrong. The staff at the hotel were really amazing and one member of staff that stood out was Laura Baeza - she really was extremely friendly and helpful and helped us iron out the issues we were having at the hotel. We paid a lot of money for this holiday and felt we did not get our moneys worth this time. We were repeat visitors after having a great time last year however we will not be returning until the hotel can decide if it is still going to be a ‘romantic adults only’ hotel or a business hotel. I do think if they continue holding these large conventions there that they will lose a lot of the loyal repeat visitors. Also the standards and the all inclusive inclusions have gone down (a lot of the drinks that were all inclusive last year are not now and we were being charged without being told - however this was resolved by the hotel. My advice for anyone thinking about booking to stay here is to check with the hotel that they haven’t got any large business functions on at the time you want to stay.

Can't fault the experience except that the Cappocino coffee was disapointing and the Spa was closed. We were upgraded to a swim in swim out room which was very pleasant. Can't fault our break and we would go again. However, we drink a lot of coffee so would bring our own coffee machine.

I definitely wouldn't rate this as a 5 star hotel, arrived and on first night we had a workman in the room for 40 minutes repairing doors, on our 2nd night all the power went off in our room, any calls for help was very slow. We had massages booked, we weren't informed that the thermal suite wasn't working until we went to check out where the spa was. First morning sitting relaxing at an over 18 hotel and pool, a man started to Jack hammer beside us and without anyone even informing us. Food was average, and my daughter's handbag had been tipped out and cash taken in the room. Would not recommend it. Lots of complaints from other guests, they'd need to up their game to get 5 stars.
