Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Check in - Line was too long, needed more staff, but once we were at the counter person who checked us in was very professional and efficient. Recognized my Bonvoy Status and offered Breakfast. Hotel - nicely appointed, complementary chocolates and sparkling wine in lobby. Nice sitting area that we used while waiting for local guests to arrive. Room - beds were very nice, view was fantastic, room was comfortable and very relaxing. Spa - used hot tub and pool area, nice and as expected for Ritz Parking - Self park and valet. Used self park as the elevator to lobby was right next to where I parked making things very convenient. Self park rate was reasonable, did not have any bags to drag around. Location - Hotel is connected to a mall, which offered many different restaurants, in addition to hotel. Breakfast - Was at or above expectations, but was very aggressively priced. Overall a great stay and would stay again if in the area. This was a last minute overnight and was happy with experience.

Decent but dated East Coast Ritz. Rooms could use a refresh. Mattress was lumpy and pillows cotton bud thin. Staff weren’t quite up to brand standard. Lovely hotel bar/restaurant with great service and old world fit out. Hotel Attached to a high end mall.

This is my favorite Ritz Carlton on the East Coast. This is my fifth visit in 18 months. Shima at the club is the best human in DC. Just precious. I saw reviews talking about low level housekeeping... no chance. Lies. This place is perfection. Clean. Always fresh flowers. Spa like fragrance everywhere. We always do the club level add on the last two days of our visit just to see SHIMA. We love her. Rooms are beautiful and well appointed. I will admit that we can afford this price point. We aren't stretching our budget to reach for an amenity we can't afford. We tip at every opportunity in every situation at all places we stay. In this case the return is 20x. The staff feels seen. We are taken care of and it's always the best experience. This past stay there were mechanics or part suppliers in the hotel and I'll be honest it created a low level atmosphere. Especially in the club. Paying more to be in the club is a hack that gives you secluded peace with like minds. In this case it seemed like the hotel or vendor opted for the upgrade and it was intrusive to our personal space and peace. This is not normal for this location. We are ambassador level with bonvoy. If you don't understand that then there's your sign. We don't always get an upgrade when we ask and honestly it's not super important because even the standard king is beyond excellent. We pay for excellence and we always get it. If you are not stretching your budget to be here with unrealistic expectations you will love it and only ever stay here when visiting DC.

Have to give a HUGE shoutout to Faustina in housekeeping. I tend to not ask for anything from housekeeping as they are all so short staffed since Covid. Faustina not only cleaned my room but went above and beyond to help me with all my requests. As someone who lives out of hotels this is so incredibly appreciated. Absolutely blown away by the customer service here. I dined at ENTYSE and the bar staff there was also incredible. Overall very enjoyable stay here at the Ritz!

We almost didn’t stay at this hotel based on some poor reviews. We ultimately booked here due to convenience. The hotel is actually very lovely. One review mentioned that the hotel was outdated and not clean. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. The lobby was gorgeous and room was very nice and clean. My husband took the kids to the pool and said the facilities were very nice and clean. All staff with whom we interacted were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that we booked as part of the Amex platinum fine hotels which includes a complimentary room upgrade if available. At check-in we were told they were fully booked with no other available rooms. However, when I looked online there were many rooms available (>15 based on numbers reported of rooms left on website) that would have afforded us a bit more room and would have been appreciated as a family of four.

Worst place I’ve ever stayed. Concern for safety and cleanliness. There was blood on the bed sheets!!! I recently came back from a month trip staying at different hotels, and decided to bring the kids with me for a work event. My kids and I will never forget this place. The blood 🤢 The dust in the rooms. Murky pool water that my son got high fevers needing both Tylenol and Motrin to bring down. Pool area is not maintained with towels overflowing the laundry basket. At other hotels, someone would consistently check the pool for towels and puddles of pool water - not here. This is also the only place that slippers aren’t provided.

second time at this Ritz location and the service was excellent! It's the Ritz so you will get pampered with good room cleaning and night-time turn-in service every day. Courteous professional service from check-in to extras during the stay. Room was overlooking the front of the hotel and quiet. Room service re-stocked the complimentary coffee pods which does not always happen at other hotels. Felt well take care of and this was a memorable stay. Definitely worth a return visit.

When you’re in the Tyson Virginia I recommend this hotel it has everything you need for your trip. The hotel staff is amazing and the hotel restaurant also offers great food. If you need an upscale the Plam Restaurant is just out the front door to the right. Also you have access to the Tyson mall that has lot of food. Anyway enjoy your trip stay at the Ritz Carlton Tyson.

We had previously lived locally and had been to the Ritz many time when it was relatively new but had never stayed there. We decided when planning a family trip to DC that we wanted to stay closer to where we used to live for a variety of reason. We are so glad that we chose to stay at the Ritz. The hotel rooms were clean and although older, the furnishings were newer and well appointed. The staff was PHENOMENAL! The front desk staff, throughout our stay, was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with during any hotel stay throughout the world. Having a staff that is that attentive makes all the difference in the world. The location including being walking distance to the Metro is the icing on the cake. Overall a great weekend in Virginia.
