Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Elephant function room is a brilliant site for our regular events. We easily accommodated 30+ tables with ample walking space between for visitors. We look forward to regularly using the facilities for future events. Thanks for the tea and coffee service Lisa and team.

The welcome from the woman on reception was about as warm as a polar bear's nether regions, completely unwelcoming and unfriendly. There was no cooked breakfast available on the Sunday just a very sparse continental offering. The hotel is like a maze and not easy to navigate. The floorboards are loose, walking in the bedroom was like being on a trampoline. Overpriced, I definitely wouldn't stay there ever again

The room itself was basic but comfortable with a few loose floor boards... To get to the room was a little bit like walking a maze, but we found it in the end.... The breakfast was delivered freezing gold with a broken egg - very disappointing. The view from the venue at the riverside was excellent .. Car Park provisions are plenty, however the entrance is a little narrow... All in all, at £100 for one night, I doubt very much that I would use this hotel again...

Very clean room, plenty of space, good shower. Breakfast was fine, all the usual produce available. Cooked breakfast was tasty and well cooked. Staff were all friendly and helpful. View and sound of the river was very relaxing, would stay again.

Room was well presented and clean. Breakfast had a lot of options and was well prepared. River view was the highlight and the sounds. Good local pubs and bars for a meal. Free parking and Wi-Fi was also a bonus. Overall an excellent experience.

We arrived very wet after paddling down the river from llandlioes. The receptionist could not have been more helpful. We stayed in the bothy at the back and allowed us to store our kayak in the garden. We ate around the corner in weatherspoons suggested by reception. Had a fab breakfast in the am and resumed kayaking down the river to Bristol. Thank you for being so welcoming.

Had a fantastic few days, staying at the Ellie. Friendly, helpful staff & spacious, clean rooms. I couldn’t have found a better place to stay in Newtown. It’s the second time we have stayed here & we will continue to stay at this hotel every time we visit as a family. Our breakfast chef was Michael & he made an amazing cooked breakfast entirely to our specifications. Thanks also to Zara who made breakfast on our first day. The general manager Lisa was lovely & let us leave the cases in reception as our train home isn’t until later.

Mike the manager was very helpful and the lady who served breakfast was very nice and friendly. We upgraded to a River View room and what a fabulous room. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, huge bathroom with bath and shower and lovely Juliet balcony, ideal for relaxing, sitting listening to the river whilst reading. The breakfast was very nice cooked English and included. Plenty of parking also. We were so impressed we booked an extra night.
