Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I return to the coast regularly for work. The rooms are always clean and the hotel staff work hard to make sure everything is perfect (I appreciate the kettle that they bring me for my tea!). The rooms have a mini fridge and microwave. I feel safe in the hotel and the location is conveniently close to everything.

Clean spacious room with a comfortable king bed. Quiet air conditioning. Free continental breakfast was good but nothing special. Close to all the wineries on Black Sage Bench, Tucelnuit Road, and Highway 97. In a central location between Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls.

This was our first time staying here. It is located right in the centre of Oliver. The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and new the area well. He provided good customer service. The hotel is on the newer side for a Coast. The rooms and the common areas were clean. There is no onsite restaurant but there is a pub about a block away that had pretty good burgers and the service was good. Breakfast was provided but it was very basic and some items were note refilled. Also the dish trays were full of dirty dishes. The one thing that is missing is the hotel doesn't have it's own shuttle to The Wine District which is about 15 minutes away. We were going there for wine tasting and an evening concert. There is only one taxi in Oliver. But the hotel did recommend a local shuttle company and they were excellent. They picked us up at 6:45pm and dropped us back off at 10:30pm ($30 each). The biggest negative for this hotel is the price; probably because it is the only real chain hotel in Oliver. The price was as much or more than in Penticton or Osoyoos. Luckily we had some points and were able to pay 1/2 with that.

At check-in I was told I didn’t have a reservation. Somehow they cancelled it and couldn’t explain why. I had just travelled 10 hours with my husband and 2 dogs so was not happy. They told me I was lucky because they did have a room available and I was assured the price would be the same as my reservation. The next morning I had an email saying sorry things didn’t work out. I went to the desk to see what was going on because there was no way I was paying for late cancellation. They told me they had an email from head office saying that I called that morning and canceled due to wildfires. I definitely did not. I had checked a week prior what would happen as far as charges go if we did encounter issues because of fires but certainly no conversation after that one. They assured me I would not incur late notice charges and I didn’t. At checkout, after I paid and they gave me a receipt, they had charged me higher for the 1st night. After much arguing with the desk clerk and her taking photos of my confirmation email she said she would notify the manager because she couldn’t do the refund. Said the manager would call me. Guess what, nobody called. I called them 2 days later and was told the refund had been issued. I think after all their screw ups they should have offered me a substantial discount. As far as the room, the floors were very clean. The edges around the bathroom counter were very dirty. I saw a small blood stain on the blanket-yuck. The mattress was very firm but comfortable enough. The pillows were awful. I like a soft pillow. All 4 were too firm. I had horrible headaches. The breakfast was pretty good but plain rather than seasoned sausages would have been much better. Nice grounds and space for visiting outside.

Dear 552trudyl, Thank you for staying at the hotel. We appreciate your feedback. We are sorry that your stay wasn't pleasant at the hotel. We received a last minute request to cancel your reservation on the same day. The hotel authorized it by overriding our 24hour cancellation policy. The request was made via voicemail around 11:30pm via voicemail with your name, reservation number and phone number. However, when you showed up we honored the same reservation. I understand that the rates were not the same as the original reservation. As soon as we realized after your complain, we refunded around $7 to your credit card to match your original reservation. A call was made to update you but we couldn't reach you, possibly because you were on the road by that time. Also, We have taken note of the issues you had during your stay and please be rest assured that your concerns have been heard. Thank you

We very much enjoyed our stay at this Coast Hotel. Our double queen room was very adequate and clean. We enjoyed the mountain view and of the waterway from our room. Our package included a bottle of local wine which made it a very good deal. Hotel has a few tables outside. So you can order takeout and have it in the warm evening sun like we did. A children's play ground is on the side of the hotel. Breakfast was good. Similar to other hotels that offer free breakfast. The front desk lady who checked us in was very pleasant., We asked for a quiet room and we received what we asked for. Amazingly, she was also the one who checked us out in the morning, Seems like they and every other hotel are short staffed. Seems like she had the evening shift then the morning shift the next day but still offered us similes during checkout! Will return again to visit the hotel and the area.

This hotel has a nice setting with a river and walking trails behind and a short walk to downtown. However, we found the other facilities basic and at times lacking. The room was clean but the furniture worn and peeling. The three bath towels were thin and frayed around all edges. The small breakfast area was an absolute zoo every morning. The lone staff made a heroic effort to keep up and each of 3 mornings they were out of stock of some of the items.

Enjoyed the stay at the Coast Oliver Hotel. It is very central located in town and convenient for the local businesses. There is a very nice trail behind to walk. We easily made day trips to Osoyoos and Penticton from here. Included daily breakfast, serving hot egg, sausages, potato cakes and waffles. Fresh juice, bagels and toast. Had the hot tub to ourselves. Friendly staff. Our room was very spacious and had fridge and microwave and coffee machine. Our stay was after Thanksgiving and many businesses are closed on Sunday and Monday for eateries.
