We saw whales go back about 100 yards out. Debbie who runs the place is awesome. Her dive master RIchard it also great! THe accomadations are not luxgerous but we went to dive so dive vacs are not high class. The lack of people on the island is great! about 30 live there. There is not much shopping or site seeing but if you love snorkling/diving it is great carribean diving with whales this is place to go and I loved the solitude.

Thanks so very much for your kind words. There are about 101 of us locally, just feels like you own a piece of the island, so seems like fewer people. Come join us again in the near future. Debbie

Tradewinds was a great place to stay on Salt Cay. Debbie made sure the unit was mopped with viniger instead of pine-sol and that no air freshers were sprayed so our sinuses would be ready for diving. Tradewinds was basic but a super value. We had everything we needed in our unit including bikes to explore the island. Having the kitchen was great for making breakfast and coffee while getting going. Tradewinds was as close as you can get to the dive shop and the two restaurants on the island. The hammocks on the water was a great bonus and a place for the afternoon siesta and reading. Debbie will do what ever it takes to make your stay awesome.

If you are looking for a spot off the beaten path where you can dive in 77 degree water with beautiful reefs, beautiful fish and humpback whales, this is the spot. We traveled to Salt Cay during humpback whale season (we were there February 22-27, 2013) and were not disappointed. Debbie picked us up at the airport and brought us to the Tradewinds. The Tradewinds is not a Marriott but then Salt Cay is not Provo. The breeze blew through the open windows and we could hear the surf and watch the sunset from the Tradewinds Beach in front. Sitting on that beach , we saw humpback whales spouting and breaching off shore. There were bicycles available to pedal around the island. The diving was great and easy. About 7 minutes to the dive sites and excellent dive masters. Lee, the

The Tradewinds was everything it was advertised as. Good quality basic accommodation. No frills but nothing lacking either. As many have noted there is almost always a good breeze blowing through the property so we never saw a need to use the A/C, proximity to the Coral Reef Bar & Grill and Salt Cay Divers was a real plus. Dining and world class diving within a couple of minutes of walking.... fantastic. Most every review mentions Debbie Manos who runs the show. She is a darling. From the moment she picked us up at the airport to our tearful goodbye she made it abundantly clear she was there to make our stay a very special one. The birthday extra at supper for my wife was just one example of her personal touch. Salt Cay Island is a very special place. It is very unlike the

Had a fantastic 4 day stay with Debbie at the Tradewinds. Debbie picked us up at the airport, gave us a briefing on the island and showed us to our room. The room was cozy with a living area, kitchenette (Electric Stove, sink, refrigerator, utensils and dishware) bathroom, large bedroom and an ocean facing screened in porch. The breeze that comes through the rooms is refreshing and invigorating makes the need for A/C non-existent, although each room comes with an A/C unit. The water temperature and pressure in the shower was fantastic for your post dive showers!! Debbie does it all from assisting with the initial reservations, to making sure your stay is comfortable and relaxing. Also, you cannot beat the proximity of Tradewinds to Salt Cay Divers. Tradewinds is about 200

Had a great stay on salt cay. Went for a diving trip and Debbie took care of everything. Makes for a worry free stay. Tradewinds is a great place for basic accommodations and is on the ocean and close to dive shop and to two (of three) restaurants on the island. Debbie runs coral reef bar and grill right by salt cay divers and the service and food there is excellent as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, laid back island. One of the friendliest places I've been.

We stayed at the Tradewinds and loved every minute of it. We can't thank Debbie enough for all of her help in making this a perfect vacation. She fed us at the Coral Reef Grill and every meal was wonderful. She made sure there were vegetarian choices for me, and that my husband was well fed too! Her desserts were great and the barbeque on Sunday was quite an event. We dove with Salt Cay Divers, just like we did 15 years ago when we first went to the island on our honeymoon. The charm of the island is the same as it was when we first visited. Everyone is so friendly. When we weren't diving, which was fantastic, we walked, biked, read and relaxed! And the sunsets with the "green flash" are not to be forgotten! I am missing Salt Cay and Debbie's charm so much, and have

A long overdue review -- we stayed at Tradewinds for a week in February 2012. It was amazing. We actually heading out for a scuba dive when a large female humpback breached off of our bow. We dove in with just flippers and a mask and swam near two adult humpbacks. Incredible! Debbie and the Salt Cay Divers were wonderful. The small restaurant on the beach is perfect and low key. Thank you, thank you!

My husband and I spent 10 nights at the Tradewinds Guest Suites at the end of August. What a blast! Nestled among the whispering casuarina trees, this small beach front hotel occupies a prime location on the enchanting island of Salt Cay. A short walk away from great diving, snorkeling, and dining, Tradewinds is the perfect home base for the wonderful vacation which awaits you on this "island that time forgot". All the suites have private screened-in porches for relaxing, as well as access to comfortable outdoor seating, hammocks, and an observation deck. Very charming and cozy set up - we really enjoyed the suite with the full kitchen. And I cannot say enough good things about the terrific owner/manager Debbies Manos, who also owns Salt Cay Divers and the Coral Reef Bar &
