Situated in a pine forest region approximately 1500m above sea level this small hotel is a very relaxing place to stay. However it is only 30-40 minutes from the main coastal resorts. For the more adventurous there are plenty of interesting walks nearby including a trip to the lunar landscape which takes 5-6 hours to complete. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent and offers a very varied menu at reasonable prices. there are also a few restaurants in the local village which is a ten minute walk away.

We are a multigenerational group, having stayed in two rooms at the Hotel Spa Villalba for two nights. We chose this hotel as our base while we explored Mt Teide and the surrounding areas. It was an easy drive up from the southern side of the island.

The hotel itself is an older building that has been renovated in a thoughtful way, keeping traditional details and the ambiance intact. The rooms are very spacious by European standards, and even by American standards. The balcony and bathrooms are spacious as well. Everything was very clean. The bathrooms were particularly delightful with their Spanish tile and old fashioned style fixtures.

The on-site restaurant served a lovely breakfast included in the cost of the room. We also ate dinner there, outside on the patio, which was a wonderful way to end the day.

What is most special about this hotel are the grounds and the spa. As an American, when I read this hotel had a "spa", I assumed this meant for guests that wanted to pay extra for a massage, etc. What we discovered is that yes, they do have paid services, however the entire lower floor contains a common spa that all guests can access. There is a jacuzzi, indoor/outdoor pool, a hot and cold water walk, an ice fountain, a cold dipping pool, a humidity room, and two saunas. This discovery was absolutely delightful for us; we changed our whole itinerary to spend more time enjoying the spa and the grounds. The spa opens up to a series of decks and paths that are under the pine trees, with a view of the valley. Each guest gets a bathrobe and we spent our time relaxing and lounging inside and outside. The grounds are large enough that we felt we had ample personal space to unwind and relax.

The climate and vegetation is totally different than lower elevations of Tenerife, so it was like a mini escape within our larger Tenerife itinerary.

Overall we enjoyed staying at Hotel Spa Villalba very much; staying here was the kind of wonderful experience that I still reflect on weeks later. It is a special place, and the value is excellent. I highly recommend visiting them. I hope to return again one day.

Nice hotel with spacious rooms set in a pine forest overlooking the picturesque town of Vilafloor. Furthermore it is away of the busy and noisy area of Costa Adeje and it is a short distance from the El Teide natural reserve. Rooms are well furnished in early 20ieth century style, clean, very well maintained and includes some improvements such as double insulated windows and patio door. Breakfast is good and is served at the table. The spa is a good addition and helps to relax after a day of hiking. WI FI is available on the premises as well as t he garden, however it was very week and very unstable in the room I had.

I stayed for three nights in December and overally I had a very pleasant time. Both hotel and room were very quiet, which was exactly what I was looking for. Everything was nice and clean. I slept very well and I normally don't get any good sleep outside of my home, so thumbs up for first-rate mattress. The staff was always very welcoming and helpful. The onsite restaurant with high-quality dishes is a very nice benefit. The hotel is conveniently located for different hiking options and a short driving distance from the national park under mount Teide. My only regret is that I could not share my experience with someone else, so next time I am definitely taking a fellow-traveller with me.

We stayed for one night, last minute. Called the hotel for the best rate for dinner bed and breakfast. It was very reasonable. A car is pretty essential as it’s up a steep hill. We stayed early January- outside temperature was around 7 degrees - warm clothes required!
Booked a superior room, it was Spanish style, but very comfortable and quiet at night.
Good choice for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast is self service but they do eggs to order.
The location is around 40 mins from the coast. The drive was interesting and not scary, the roads have been greatly improved in recent years.
I would definitely go back, especially in the summer when I think the views will be wonderful.

An excellent hotel located high in the mountains at the upper end of the unspoilt village Vilalba. The rooms are spacious and facilities high quality with free wifi. Staff are friendly, multilingual and very accommodating. There is a lovely open air section adjacent to the restaurant and I would recommend dining outside in the summer evenings, though it may get chilly. The food is excellent with a combination of local fare and more popular dishes. I would also recommend the local wine. The air is clean and the night skies are clear and make for good astronomer viewing. There are a great many hiking trails for those who like walking among the pine forests and the altitude of approximately 1500 metre also makes for useful fitness and mountain training for cyclists. An underrated gem and I have been there many times.

This spacious, old fashioned hotel is reminiscent of a Parador. The location is outstanding, set among the pines trees at 1400 metres close to the Tiede National Park. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The balcony was in itself pleasant, but the frequent wits of sewage smells meant it was't a place to sit for any time.

The pool, sauna etc. are good, and breakfast was OK, but not enough to encourage us to eat there in the evening.

Whilst we enjoyed our four nights here, I doubt that I would return.

Start with the highs. Friendly welcome reception. The room was clean, tidy and spacious. Breakfast is good.
Spa is good.
The hotel is a great location for walking.

The restaurant however is not so good. Because it is 15 minute walk from the village, the price point for the food and drink is exorbitant. The food itself is not great and the service is variable. Why not have fresh fish and local dishes?
If you want decent locally produced food at a much better quality and half the price, it is worth going to Restaurante Fuente Hermano Pedro in the village. The short walk is not a problem.
Is it a legacy of Covid that all condiments are packaged in plastic. I think you con do better than this.

We spent a lovely 6 days here, relaxing in the spa and the picturesque surroundings. Great walks right from the hotel into the pine forest. Easy access to other areas of the island and tours of el tiede etc. Building was well maintained, staff were really friendly and helpful, and the spa and treatments were excellent. Restaurant is good quality and healthy food in the main. If you're veggie or vegan, the selection is more limited, but there's still options. We didn't eat anywhere else, but Vilaflor is just a few minutes walk away and there are restaurants there. Their mojitos are very nice! Thoroughly recommended if you're wanting to relax and pamper yourself (or be pampered by the spa staff!), and definitely worth stretching your legs to walk into the pines.

Beautiful hotel in an amazing setting and wonderfully peaceful. One negative is that there is not really a sun k menu for lunch and the starters are very expensive ie €12 plus for most so makes dining at the hotel very costly. Would be great if they did some simple foods for lunch like toasties, sandwiches and rolls and maybe fries or few tapas. We would very much stay again but we would have to consider eating out as dinner at €100 when I don’t drink is pretty expensive. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially the lady on reception.

Hello, to answer your questions. Yes there is a lift, however there are also rooms on the ground floor, so if you asked for a low room I am sure they could accommodate you. The steps are ok, they are very wide and with a slow gradient. The whole hotel has only 2 floors. There is plenty of parking outside the hotel on the road and a small car park across the (small and quiet) road. I can only speak about the one bed that we had, but yes it was very comfy, firm but not hard if that makes sense. The hotel reception speak very good English, if your Spanish is limited. You could telephone them and explain your limited mobility and I am sure they will go out of their way to help your stay be memorable. I cannot speak too highly of the attention we received. Enjoy your stay.

We thought Hotel Villalba was the best. There are a few bars and restaurants in Vilaflor which is within walking distance but nothing which seemed better than Hotel Villalba. There are busses from Vilaflor but not many. We hired a car which was great and this gave us the freedom to do what we wanted. If you are still planning your trip you might consider hiring a car and travel around the island staying in various hotels. We met a few people who did this and as we found Tenerife surprisingly varied we thought this was a great way of visiting the island.

Hello Karen, There is a climate chart for Villflor in Wikipedia, which suggests that the average max daily for June is 21 deg C, perhaps a couple of degrees higher towards the end and a couple lower towards the beginning of the month - so rather pleasant. As well as the room balcony there are many nice places in the hotel grounds where you can sit, relax and read. I think the swimming pool has a retractable roof for the summer. There are half a dozen or so walks from the doorstep and the one heading up to the 'lunar landscape' is a particularly fine one.
