Es una magnifico establecimiento que relaciona los conceptos de madera nativa que se aprovecha sosteniblemente para impregnar esos aromas fantasticos en las habitaciones, ideal para los amantes de los acabados de madera cuando visiten Rio San Juan
I was GRANDPAcking in El Castillo on my way down the Rio San Juan to Greytown. I found a ‘little gem’ that is NOT listed on online search engines: the Hostal Fortaleza. The Hostal Fortaleza is located at the eastern end of the waterfront path. They offered me a Fan Double with Private Bathroom for N$300 / night excluding Breakfast … I booked 2 nights. They included Breakfast for a higher price … but I wanted to try Breakfast in different places around town. The room was very neat and tidy. It actually had a small space to hang your clothes. The cold-water ensuite was perfectly adequate. It had in-room wifi … but the signal strength was a bit ‘variable’.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for our one night in El Castillo. We had checked out several other hotels, some of which were booked, some of which were run down. Then we stumbled onto Fortaleza. I do not recall the price but it was definitely cheaper than the others we had seen. Plus it was very nice inside. It looks like new construction. The rooms on the second floor are preferable as they have a balcony. Breakfast was offered for an extra $5 but we declined. The owner/manager was very nice and helped us with several things we had to accomplish. Next time I'm in in El Castillo I will definitely stay there again.
Family room. Clean, towels and soap provided. Staff were welcoming and extremely diligent and helpful. The balcony was lovely for evenings. The playing field was great, saw lots of baseball and people watching. Handy shop over that field to the right. The rooms were priced fairly without breakfast. When you get off boat in centre go left down main street, is just after Nenas Lodge. We had a week here and it was a beautiful village full of friendly people who were patient with our poor language skills. My son even made a friend (Jose) across the street and they played together. We have fond memories of staying here and in El Castillio.
New hotel built in 2015. Very clean rooms. Small hotel of 6 rooms: 3 rooms sharing a terrace and 3 other downstairs. In dec 2015 price w breakfast was 25$ same price than other places very close and not so nice. The owner is very kind and always smiling. Not directly on the river but the other side of the street. Room for 3 avalaible.m Plan to have wifi soon.
