Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

We had dinner with our family a few weeks ago, and were enthusiastic about the antipasti, the exquisite pasta ai frutti di mare, the very reasonably priced Greco di tufo, and the child-friendliness… but we were gutted (pun intended) when our main course was served:...overdone and totally dried out Gamberoni, that were not fresh (??)… but worst of all: the digestive tract was not removed, an absolute disgrace! Not what you expect in a renowned fish restaurant.More

Fabulous seafood with fabulous view. This restaurant was recommended by our guide, Anna, from Varvaglione 1921 after we had an amazing tour and wine tasting. We had the special mixed seafood degustation entree and then shared the seafood risotto. Impressed that each dish came with...some vegetable. Finished sharing a baba dessert. All good quality, interesting flavours and great presentation. Also a place the locals frequent.More

Very very good with all tasty meals. Just a few photos to explain what is happing there. A show!! The Restaurant , i mean the building, is not the best one even if it is brand new. Price is important but you should forget it...for one time. My advice is ti follow the advices of the maitre for the best experience Parking place outside no problem.More

The location and ambiance is fine, but when the waiter comes and offers food, the ambience is getting weaker. And when he brings food, and you try, then you see that's not it. The food spoiled the whole good atmosphere in that ambiance. And finally,...the price, which is more than the average food quality. I wish them luck in the future, but I am not coming back.More

I went there with very high expectations but was a bit disappointed. The raw appetizers are great in taste. A shrimp appetizer was a bit tasteless. I had the caviar and asked where it was from and was told it was Norwegian when it's of...course Siberian. My partner had a frutti di mare pasta that was excellent. I went for the vongole, and it was awful which surprised me because a restaurant like this can't afford to not do vongole well. After having had my main course which was good, I ordered coffee and liquor and paid. Shortly after another waiter asked me if they could offer me liquor and coffee, small money but the gesture is important. For the quality of the food and the price we paid I'd say it's not great value for money, but it was probably an off day and the location is amazing.More

We visited this local restaurant as a family of 7 and had a fantastic meal. The staff were friendly and our waiter made an incredible effort to explain the menu in English. The view over the bay was amazing and we watched an incredible sunset...as the restaurant filled up with locals and seafood lovers alike. All in all, a lovely evening.More

It was the very best meal we had whilst staying in the area. The meal was excellent, the owner and staff charming and helpful despite my lumbering Italian. We ate in a covered terrace overlooking the sea. What more could one want?!

Our expectations of this place were high, but the reality was terrible! We had soon to find out, that there seem to be two kinds of service, one for locals , one for tourists . None of six wines choosen on the menue was available,...and each time the owner told us that he had a similar wine available that was not listed! The food was served even if not ordered (!!!), and the owner said that it was ok! For the main course we got what ordered, but is was low quality . And when we asked for a grappa, we got something no local would even have tasted. Not a place to recommend .More

Absolutely spectacular and charming restaurant on the sea in Lizzano. Chef Carlucci Salvatore is a superstar, and could not have been more warm and inviting, and his cooking skills are unparalleled. Easily one of the finest meals of our lifetime and we have traveled all...over the world and eaten in Michelin starred restaurants along the way. Some of the finest, freshest fish and seafood we have ever tasted. The best risotto (nut and fresh tuna) I have ever had. A spectacular dining experience. Service top notch. And the chef invited us into the kitchen after our meal. Truly an exceptional experience! Hope we are lucky enough to visit here again. Owners were so gracious, as well. What a treat to have dined here. Grazie!!!More

The menu, food, style of cooking and the quality of products are very good. We tried to have a dinner (better to say “lunch”) for three times and at least we’ve got a small table near the toilet. All the time my value of the...restaurant is between very good and “the place I will never go to”. All things are saying that you are to go: nice place with sea view near the seaside. All the time is full of guests. All times you can see the owner in, looking for everything. Very good choice of wine. The quality of fish and seafood is excellent, everything was melt in the mouth. And if you are lucky you can get a good table near the window. But it still seems to me that they (owner, waiters) did not like us, and do not want to see for the next time.More

I wish my expectations had been lower, as it ruined my experience. The way in to the restaurant is quite odd but once we entered I loved it! Bright & Happy feel with nice details and a location that couldn't be any better. As we...reached aoyr table I couldn't help but spot chipped plates and next to our table a ceramic cactus with a big piece broken off. Plates and glasses not spotless, even my napkin had some spots (new or old?) I went to the restroom before sitting down at our table and at first glance it looks stunning! Entered in through the ladies door and found the toilet seat missing, went to the men's instead as they had theirs (!!) Owner dressed casually while waiter dressed in a worn out and dirty black jacket. Nothing on the menu excited me so I asked if there was anything else available, there was lobster pasta and some other dishes. We decided on the lobster pasta that we later on learned cost 50€ for two. My comment as it arrived was: I thought catching lobsters that small would be illegal, we got half each and it was not much bigger than a crayfish. Main course was very good, a fillet of Dover sole. Dessert... Crema Catalan was small and tasted of refrigerator, bottom part creamy but top part over cooked = omelette feel. Oh I forgot... 2 meters from our table a yellowish puddle was growing bigger and bigger, we notified the water who was puzzled at first but then realized it was excess water from a plant that had just been watered. He ran off (to get something to wipe it up, I thought) but never wiped it so everyone walked in it and finally a tablecloth that was on the ground (!!) sucked it up. Sorry for being picky but I love good meals in good restaurants & I'm spoiled with just that!More
