Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Note: I don’t often give a five star review… but this one deserved it. Stopped in for a wine tasting during a layover between business trips and decided to check out the restaurant. The menu board stated scallops… sold. Had the scallops with the pork...belly croquettes and it was STUNNING. Had to resist licking up the reduction after I had consumed the perfectly cooked scallops, savoury croquettes and perfectly seasoned and cooked vegetables and grelotte potatoes. Scrumptious. And the house-made Chardonnay was an excellent counterpoint to the meal. Then? The cheese plate… beautiful selection of blues and ripened firm cheeses that was the perfect closer. Atmoshpere was classy and nice, not at all snooty. Service was excellent and perfectly done; kudos to Doug. Highly recommend this place.More

Proper way to enjoy the start of the Christmas celebration- fireplace seating with a gorgeous sunset and equally beautiful cuisine at Old Vines Restaurant at Quails' Gate. The Stewart family’s legacy is gracefully directed with WM Jeff Del Nin’s( University of Adelaide) approach and Chef...Jennifer Dodd’s (Dubrelle international culinary institute, Joe Fortes, Teahouse Restaurant, Cayman Islands) locally sourced seasonal menu. Perfect way to relax, laugh and enjoy this wonderful festive weekend! 🏆🥂❤️🎉🎄🍷 Thank you Brett for the warm and very attentive service. Can’t wait to come back and see you! Merry Christmas!More

We are searching for 'the perfect' dinner in the Okanagan. First the food at this restaurant was the best we have had in the Okanagan. It was excellent. The setting is also beautiful, with outdoor dining in the summer time. The service was professional. It...is comparable to the Burrowing Owl. It would have been a 5/5 but for two things. First, it was very noisy. Unless they have tables hidden away somewhere, don't go here for a quiet dinner. The noise was more like a bistro. Second, the food was brought to our table 'warm' but not hot. For quality and taste, the food is 'excellent'.More

Our third time at this restaurant The food and service are always excellent top notch The only negative experience was trying to make a reservation for a group larger than 4 people. We called the evening of July 11 (weeks in advance) to make a...reservation for larger than a group of 4 and the girl a spoke was quite unhelpful, cutting me off and repeatedly saying "we're booked solid, thank you and good bye." I bypassed this by making multiple reservations online for the same day at the same time - I guess they weren't full or booked solid after all.More

Lovely dinner spot. One of the best meals we had in BC. The food is all super fresh with the vegetables coming straight from their local farm to your plate. I had the vegetable risotto with local halibut that was delicious. The wine of course...is great too. Our server Amy W was excellent, really knowledgable and nice and friendly.More

We recently dined at Old Vines Restaurant. My experience was far from satisfactory. I ordered the Ribeye steak at a cost of $59. The steak was cold and tough! The service was painfully slow. While my dinner guests were able to enjoy their meals, I...had to endure an unnecessarily long wait for my steak to be recooked. By the time it finally arrived, my companions had already finished their meals, leaving me to eat alone. It was an incredibly awkward and unpleasant situation, which greatly affected my overall dining experience. The lack of attention and care from the staff was disappointing, especially from the manager. Not only did they fail to deliver a properly cooked steak initially, but they also failed to prioritize my order in a timely manner. The total bill was nearly $300.00 before gratuity. The overall evening was a major disappointment. I will not be going back.More

Disappointing food and service at lunch, only the wine and dessert saved the experience. Mushroom soup was so unusual that we sent it back, and the rib eye was oddly cut (think of a 2x2 chunk of wood) that they then couldn’t cook to order...- resulting in an oddly chewy dish for $59. On the upside, the scallop crudo and the rhubarb mascarpone dessert were excellent. The service was confused at best with dishes and wines coming out of order in a restaurant that was only half full. The wine pairings were excellent and nicely complemented the dishes.More

This was an absolutely amazing restaurant to visit for lunch. The service from Curtis was 10/10 - great recommendations and general chat given he was working in a very hot environment!! The food was exceptional - tuna tataki, scallop crudo and two fish fillet dishes!...So fresh and well balanced - really delicious. Great wine pairings as well to sip on all afternoon. We had a table on the terrace with a fantastic view of the vineyard. Bliss!More

Do not buy a gift card from this restaurant. We have one as a wedding present to a couple and when they used it the staff refused it. They claimed it had never been “authorized”, despite the fact that I paid for it . The...couple were forced to pay for their dinner. Later the restaurant admitted it was a computer glitch on their part. When my wife called Nov 2 to complain the staff seemed not to care.More

We were here for dinner in late August and it really was the perfect date night. There was a bit of a wait as it was quite busy, but the hostess was very polite and offered us champagne while waiting. Our table was just on...the restaurant side of the balcony overlooking vineyard - the walls/windows were sliding I believe and so was essentially completely opened up. View was amazing as the sun was setting. Service was also great - attentive and friendly without rushing us or hovering. The food was good. I wouldn't say it was particularly memorable (since quite honestly, I cannot remember what we ate) but there was nothing to complain about. Prices were as would be expected. Would 100% come here again.More

Fabulous view. Very nice staff. The food, though well presented, doesn’t quite live up to expectations. I had the duck confit with foie gras which really was poor. The confit was completely tasteless and the “foie gras” was like no foie gras I ve ever...had. If I had to guess what it was I would say it was the Rougie duck “Mousse de foie gras” which is actually very good served with hot buttered toast . However I was offered crackers or sour dough bread. My main course was lamb which would have been excellent had it been hot. It wasn’t. My husband had the rib eye steak which he ordered medium but came well done and was really tough. It was in fact the most expensive main course on the menu. My cheesecake for dessert was very good and my husband’s strawberry shortcake was “okay”. His coffee was cold but my tea was good which is often not the case in restaurants. My husband refused to complain as he said it wouldn’t make any difference therefore the server likely though the dinner was okay which is unfortunate. We have been to the restaurant several times in past years prior to CoVid but we won’t be going again. It really is too bad. It certainly hasn’t changed for the better.More

Overall, our experience at Quail’s Gate was good but not great. The food was delicious and our server is awesome! We also like the atmosphere of the restaurant and the deco in the dining room. The only thing we do not appreciate is service from...the hostess. First, she did not acknowledge our anniversary even tho we have indicated that on our booking. However, we over heard our server greeted the guy next to our table with “happy birthday” as soon as he sat down (I think the server was informed ahead). Definitely not a good feeling for us. Second, we were being assigned to a table by the window with a view that is blocked by the corner wall structure. Not happy with that. We will not consider returning.More
