Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The fish and seafood in this little family run restaurant is superb. The chef has a magic touch and everything we ate was perfectly cooked. She lets the beautiful fresh catch speak for itself without the unnecessary sauces served in other restaurants. When seafood is...this fresh, it should be simply served which Mario's wife knows. Then there is Mario,- what a lovely man. He patiently explains the menu and is constantly checking ( as does his equally lovely lady colleague,- cousin??) that diners are happy. The wines are excellent too. Thank you to all the staff at Osteria Penzo for two fabulous evenings.More

This small, family run restaurant is located in a side street just off the main pedestrian area of the old town, and is probably one of the best restaurants in Chioggia. It’s certainly busy so advance booking is essential. It had been recommended by our...hotel, just around the corner, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Service was excellent and friendly, and everything we ordered was tasty and nicely presented. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.More

Cozy little osteria with cool owners, simple and fresh seafood options. Great wine selection and good service skills. They serve only available ingredients and if interested they explain how they source their seafood

Standard without any creativity, bad service, overpriced for that what you get. We had the spaghetti with the sea brass (white sauce) . Quality was good, the portion small, but ok. Nothing spectacular, nothing creative. Simply ok The mixed grilled fish. So tell me what...can be wrong putting a fish on the charcoal grill? Nothing but killing the fish a second time when overcook it. This was almost done, but finally also just ok. Potatoes from the oven.... quite ok. Mixed salad: very small. Service is pour. Not able to check the reservation ( done by the hotel) - only the chef could help. No ashtray although I asked for it. No extra plates for sharing although asking for them. No oil and vinegar for the salad, again only the chef was able and willing to see what is missing... So all in all overpriced for what is being served and done. What a pity.More

I loved having dinner at Osteria Penzo. The owner came to the table to recommend and came to check that everything was fine throughout the whole time we stayed there. The food was fresh and tasty and I really enjoyed it from the start to...the end! It’s a small place and generally fully booked so I suggest to call in advance. The only downside is that the dining room is closed and there is no window so no view to the outside. I will go back!More

The start was little frightening when we had dropped in at 8 pm. Although the restaurant was empty, we had been offered the table next to the kitchen, as the one and only... I'm very keen on the comfort, but there was no trouble.. No...steam, no smell. And the place'd got fully occupied in half an hour. The service was kind and caring, although not each of them spoke english, they tried to accept my 'basic' italian. The grilled fish plate was excellent, so did the dessert... (the tagliatelle was a bit watery and tasteless). They have enormous choice of wines, by origin, by age, and enormous patience to help you choose. Hats off to the waiter, for us he was the spirit of the place, giving constant attention even in the rush-hour. Cannot avoid to mention that even the interior was kept simple, nothing exorbitant, it gave the perfect atmosphere, keeping gastronomy in the focus.More

This lovely, family-run osteria is a must-visit for anyone in Chioggia. Almost at the end of the island and down a dark street, Penzo offers the best of seafood caught fresh and served in a deliciously-simple way. The owners are warmly welcoming and provide menus...in a few languages, as well as speaking English. They explain and recommend then pop out to the kitchen and cook it up. It was a delight from start to finish. I might go again tomorrow night!More

The staff were courteous and knowledgeable, rightly proud of the food being served. This trattoria truly represents a low key wholesome Venetian trattoria. It was a pleasure savouring the local seafood.
