Definitely the best trattoria in Viareggio, don't expect a trendy atmosphere, it's a simple 70's trattoria, but the food, the thing that matters most, is the best for a fish lover like me. The fish is very fresh and expertly cooked. (I chose a 1.8...kg scorpion fish cooked in acquapazza for two) The most fantastic raw seafood I have ever eaten, very fresh fish and a unique choice and selection of flavors! Fantastic oyster tasting! You can choose how to cook the catch of the day! A nice selection of wines and .... rare thing to find, when everything is already at the top of the range ..... amazing dessert !! The owner is a fantastic character and takes care of the customers lovingly! A great host !! Highly recommended !! P.S. in some cases .... the price does not matter!More
I tried is restaurant several times. I can tell only good things about. Yuri the managerbis always kind and polite. Trattoria La Darsena is reallly a top restaurant . To be tried.
We were there out of the high season so the restaurant wasn't packed and therefore we think we had more attention by the staff regarding everything. Food is great, fresh and tasty. Try the local entrees, or spaghetti con arselle and then a big fish...as you prefer. Attitude of the owner and the waiters is "particular": they have a very personal sense of humor but, in any case, they accomodate you at best. So in the end we enjoyed the service as well. Wine list is just a bit pricey than usual but the final check was definitely "honest". GreatMore
This trattoria pretends to be the top for fish The reality is that they charge extremely high price for very small portions 50 euro for large sea food plate ...max 150 grams of sea food 0ver 20 euro for pasta with small portion Toilet ...dirty,...old, without paper Do not call yourself trattoria ...call,yourself a trap for touristMore
Huge insalata di mare, fabulous seared tuna with local spices seared in. Owner gave great selection on wine, he speaks good English.
This seafood restaurant became one of our must to come again restaurant during our road trip. We had risotto with seafood and it had the sea smell on it. It was so fresh. It was so delicious. Prices are affordable as well.
Poor menu choice, so we went for a catch of the day. It was tasty but that with chips and admittedly a v nice house wine came to a staggering185 Euro. Not what you expect for an unprepossessing port trattoria (and the service was overly...obsequious). Others similarly aghast and arguing over their bill. The Manager/Owner was embarrassed and reduced ours, albeit by 10EMore
I go there every time I come back in my home town (Viareggio). Price slightly above average but other comparable are not on the same quality level. While the location is not the restaurant's strongest point, I consider it the best fish restaurant in Versilia...(and on my top 10 list overall). I strongly suggest the assiette of crudités. For the rest ask suggestion to the owner, he will always guide you on the daily specialities. Also for the wine, don't be afraid of ask advise!More
Definitely the must, when you are in Viareggio! Great selection of delicious seafood dishes, service - beyond perfect, wide enough range of wines and again, very very tasty food!
We arrived at an impossible time. We have been served very well. We took simple pasta with lobster and a nice local wine. It was excellent. The waitress was a little bit theatral but very helpfull. Speaks English (also the waiter did so) Helped with...my poor Italian. Food was served fast and the portion was enough for a dinner. Recommended place.More
Wow. This place has an amazing selection of seafood. I recommend everyone that loves seafood to go here. They have a lot to choose in-between and the staff is very flexible. We gave them a little tip and they put a bottle of limoncello on...the table. GREAT.More
We took an inside table, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The staff helpful and friendly and the owner suggested a nice wine at a reasonable price. The fresh pasta with crab was excellent and tagliolini with tub gurnard was really superb and from the...day's catches we chose a scorpionfish. The owner suggested some different preparation, and it was beautifully presented on a platter at our table, cleaned and plated by the waiter. The dessert, a mascarpone cream, was really soft and tasting.More
I ate at Darsena sea bass in oven cooked with fresh tomatoes, potatos and olive oil. It was very delicious. Before fish we took starter plate. 10 starters prepared with different sea foods. It was also very interesting experience. Especially a starter with orange juice...i still miss.More
My husband and I ate here after looking at several options in the Darsena neighborhood of Viareggio. We wanted a good fish dinner, and we got it. We took a table outside and noticed what the tables around us were eating, and it all looked...great. For primi we ordered spaghetti vongole & bavette asciughe. It was delicious, so we anticipated our secondi and were not disappointed. After being taken inside to look at the fresh fish (that day's catch from nearby docks), we chose an orata. We asked it be grilled, and it was brought to our table and beautifully presented on a platter surrounded by a contorno of grilled vegetables. The waitress cleaned and plated the fish and vegetables. Then they brought our a plate of french fries. Our meal was delicious and just what we wanted that evening. It was not cheap at 88 Euro, but we were very full and satisfied. We found the waitstaff very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We would definitely return.More
