Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Gotta go here! Our first experience at the Palm in DC was amazing. Yes, you should make a reservation. Yes, it's a hotspot for the DC influencers. (You'll see hundreds of 'regulars' and political clienteles' caricatures on the walls.) But most importantly, YES...the cocktails, food,...and service are exceptional. We started at the bar to have the best 'old-school' Manhattans and Rob Roys that we had had during our DC visit. The Palm bartenders and staff are not just in the hospitality industry; these people are among the most professional we've encountered in a dining experience. They are knowledgeable and you can literally see how they work as a team to help each other out with the service experience. Oh, so what would we recommend? Appetizer best memory: the crabmeat cocktail was bountiful had some of the largest lumps of crabmeat I've seen in 20+ years Entrée best memory: the rib-eye steak was our favorite; so tastyMore

Big fan of the Palm , this was a first day in safe choice. Hung at the bar to eat and a typical scene was there. Some regulars and some pre dinner people and a comfortable hang. Light meal was to the standard of the...brand, and friendly enough of a bartender. I never think Palm is a bad idea, it isn’t in Washington eitherMore

My husband and I were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary, while visiting our son in DC. After many other suggestions for dinner, we decided to try the Palm. So disappointing. The server was very unfriendly, treated us differently than I saw him treating other tables. All...the other servers were smiling and seemed to really give great service. My husband ordered filet, he likes his medium well, it came out rare. I ordered shrimp sautéed, first was served wrong dish entirely, then it was swapped out for my correct dish. I ate one shrimp and it was extremely chewy, so much so that I could not eat anymore, I sent it back. The server never apologized, did not try to make it right, just seemed annoyed. Our son enjoyed his lobster. The side dishes were extremely salty. We love fine dinning and this is not the place. Maybe once upon a time it was great, but so many better choices in the city. Will never go back, more because of the way we were treated.More

Came here for a very early dinner before heading to the airport, as a result the place was deserted but still enjoyable. The food, steak followed by Zeppoles was delicious and the service was very friendly and chatty. It was quite expensive, coming out at...£175 all in for two steaks, pudding and a little bit of wine. However, judging by the fact that the Palm decorates its walls with cartoons of their most esteemed and some instantly recognisable patrons, they aren't exactly struggling for business. As our waiter told us, they have a very loyal customer base.More

We came here for dinner on Sunday evening before heading back to the airport. As it was a Sunday and about 5.45pm, the restaurant was virtually empty, which was a shame as I can imagine that it gets pretty buzzy later in the evening. We...had steak and chips - what else would you expect here? - which was lovely, if not quite expensive. My sense is that they don't struggle to find people willing to part with their hard-earned money to eat here, so it is difficult to complain. The ambiance is great with all of the caricatures painted or stuck to the walls. It was fun trying to identify the famous people that we (as Brits) would know. One of the highlights of our trip was our server. He was very chatty and welcoming. I have forgotten his name, embarrassingly, but he is a football fan and has family that live in Bristol in England.More

We had a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife last weekend. Our waiter was so personable and fun. Our food and service were perfect and I had let the restaurant know we were celebrating my wife's birthday. They had a great cake for us and...came over and sang. Our waiter had an amazing voice. The night really could not have been any better. My filet was perfectly prepared and wonderful. We will definitely go back and will recommend The Palm to anyone looking for fine dining in DC!!More

The Palm is an old Washington establishment. Haven't been here for a long time but doesn't look like much has changed. Although I kind of remembered that the dining room as well as the caricatures on the walls were bigger but that was probably due...to faulty memory. On the other hand the very nice glass enclosed porch area in front could be a more recent addition and is a great place for people watching. Inside you pass through a darkish partitioned bar section with a few very roomy booth seats before you reach the brighter dining room which can be quite noisy when full - as it was today due to this being a Friday during winter restaurant week. The RW offerings are fairly standard for a traditional steakhouse - we had Ceasar salad, steak, salmon, and for dessert key lime pie and Zeppoles - somewhat unremarkable but well prepared and perfectly good as expected. Service was a bit slow to start - we arrived just before the end of peak lunch hour - but went smoothly as the place became less busy.More

The food was excellent, great atmosphere. The thing that spoilt it for us, was our waiter brought the cheque , without us asking we were still sipping our drinks, and were contemplating having another, but we felt rushed and as if we had to go....Perhaps wait for the customer to ask for the cheque.More

Gotta love it here! Made a pitstop here during restaurant week and my soul is happy! Their food is so lovely and restaurant weeks allows you to dabble in all areas! The steak was made perfectly and the servers are very polite. It was my...friends birthday and they wrote her a birthday card that was sitting on the table when we arrived! You’re able to pay for parking in the street which depending on when you go can be easy or difficult. Buy the food is worth it! Got a bottle of wine to celebrate and our server made sure that our cups were never empty! I love that for us. Perfect place for couples, groups, dates, romantic settings- all of it! Oh and the broccoli is amazing!More

This was a huge disappointment. We’ve been coming here for 25 years to celebrate big occasions, and this was the first time we’ve been disappointed. Also the first time since new ownership. The creamed spinach had no creaminess—it looked and tasted like chopped frozen spinach...in oil. We sent it back and they brought the same inedible stuff out. Steaks were ok but not as good as usual and not worth the price. Service was as good as ever, though. Just a huge disappointment. We won’t be spending our money there in future.More

Nothing about this dining experience was particularly good. Waiter was average. Salad to start was average. Steak was not as good as the steak that I recently had at Morton’s. And we were seated next to a very loud table of ten. So that was...just great! Steakhouses like this are expensive. The experience should be great. Our dinners at 1789 and Blue Duck Tavern the two prior evenings were better in all respects - and for less. I will not go back to The Palm.More
