This was my first time here. What a gem. I have many food allergies and each won was catered for by the chef. I had an amazing duck dish which was served with fabulous sauces. Mouthwatering food and great wine. All staff were excellent.
We had an amazing dinner with kind and caring service. They accommodated food allergies and made great recommendations. The place is lovely, comfortable and quiet enough for dinner conversation. The cook is creative and everyone was delighted with our choices. We left full and happy.
Went for a girls 50th birthday celebration dinner with 10 girls. Food and service was amazing and wine list good. As we were a larger party we had to choose from a set menu but there was something for everyone including a gluten free friend...and at a great price. The food was so flavourful and great portions, we honestly didn't think we could manage the desserts.....but we did! The atmosphere was lovely and not at all rowdy or mad background music, so we could all hear ourselves chat. I cannot wait to get back to Carlingford for another trip to the Kingfisher, I have been telling everyone about this little gem.More
Excellent dinner! I am a vegetarian and didn’t fancy the look of the Dahl but they were able to accommodate me! My partner and I had the cheesy garlic bread and stuffed mushrooms followed by a dish made by the chef for me (veggies and...pasta) and Thai pork for the fiancé, washed down with a bottle of Prosecco. The only complaint is the portions were so big (which isn’t really a complaint is it?) couldn’t have desert because was too full but they looked amazing on other tablesMore
Arrived and greeted by the owner and shown to a table then a waitress took care of our orders after that..From we arrived until we left the service provided by both was excellent and the owner she even offered to organise a taxi if we...wanted one after I enquired about going to a pub 10 minutes away by car...It was obvious that other customers who were there were returning clients and had a great rapport with the staff/owner, providing a lovely ambience to the place.. So we had wings to start which were perfect and went down a treat, as did the wine. My friend highly recommends the French Chardonnay - 'Felines jourdan'. For mains we had Curried Monkfish and Duck..Both cooked to perfection and we both felt that they were the best duck and monkfish we have had in along time if not the best we ever had. So safe to say I can highly recommend the Kingfisher Bistro as a place you should eat at when next in Carlingford!More
4 of us had a meal here on Saturday night. Never been before but heard plenty of good stories about it. We could not fault anything every dish we had was top class especially the chicken wings and Thai spiced pork. The staff were great...making sure we always had enough drinks or if we needed anything else. A special mention to one of the waiters I never got his name but he was a bald sort of guy who was just fantastic with a great knowledge of the menu and all the specials on the night. When we got the bill we were pleasantly surprised of how reasonably priced it was considering the quality of the food. Will definitely be returning!!More
Was in on Friday Night for a birthday dinner with my hubby, Restaurant is atmospheric but intimate at the same time. The staff are well just bloody brilliant to be honest. Never left waiting, checking everything is okay and so nice. The food speaks for...itself and if you don’t try the pork dish which is to die for you are sincerely mad! Amazing meal from beginning to end. Do you think a two week wait between Birthday Meal and Valentines Meal is a little excessive? Nah! Prepare for another table booking.More
Kingfisher was the venue for a recent family gathering and we were very impressed. Claire and her team run the front of house well but it was the work done in the kitchen that will live in the memory. We opted for a set menu...and every course was excellent. The spring roll starters were some of the best I've had, the duck and pork for mains were both excellent also. Dessert completed a winning set of dishes. The wines were well sourced and rounded out the meal. Prices were reasonable and No service charge was levied. Highly recommended!More
We went to the Kingfisher Bistro when away for a bank holiday weekend with 2 of our older kids, the food was amazing, so good in fact we went back for a 2nd night and ordered different dishes and still very impressed. Staff are laid...back and friendly, well worth a visitMore
I visited Carlingford this weekend and had to leave a review for the kingfisher bistro. The food was truly out of this world. And the staff so attentive and helpful. Only minor comment was there were no gluten free desert options. Will definitely be back!
My family visited Carlingfird and visited this beautiful restaurant. We had delicious food and drinks and the service was excellent. The steaks were cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant on a visit to lovely Carlingford!
We booked a table indoors which was really nice. The menu had changed from the one I'd looked at and was a real bonus for me, my all time favourite meal, seafood tagliatelle had been added and have to say this was the best I'd...ever had. I thought the Bayview, McCaffertys Bar in Dungloe, Donegal would never be topped but here we were, a new top of the seafood pasta charts. Five stars already guaranteed but the other dishes were right up there too. I thought my wife was going to scrape the plate to make sure she got every bit of that baked alaska. Lovely draught pint, great service and atmosphere, top quality meal.More
We have just had a beautiful meal this evening at the Bistro, the whole dining experience was excellent . The team working this evening were friendly and efficient, we were seated quickly and orders taken promptly. The menu was varied and highlighted lots of locally...sourced ingredients which was great to see . We chose from the starters and mains menus but unfortunately no room for dessert. The presentation was beautiful, the flavours absolutely to die for and the service excellent…. I scraped my plates clean to an almost embarrassing level !! There were 4 of us and everyone echoed the same sentiment - that it was the tastiest meal we’d had in quite some time … we may well be back before the end of the week and will be definitely returning regularly… absolutely highly recommend a visit !!More
I like visiting family run restaurants that try to source local products, so i was pleased to see that The Kingfisher had, I think, one burger on the menu - This is good, because normal if I see more than one type of burger on...the menu I refuse to eat there. Eating at the Kingfisher was a pleasant candle lit experience. Menu uncomplicated - it changed during the day as well -- a good sign that food is sourced locally as they may run out of produce. Alternatives were offered. Wine list was good and inexpensive as well. The proprietors have got the balance about right and have put thought into running their business. Well done!More
