RUDE and arrogant service. Food was very average, especially for the price. Tip of 20% was automatically charged. Avoid this place.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant that caters to locals, including the priests. Whether seated inside or outside the food is always great, we usually order Veal Scallopino e Limone and this time the Pollo was equally delicious. The prices are very reasonable.
During the festival the old upper town was too crowded. We descended towards the car park and found this charming place. The food was excellent and it was clearly popular with locals. Family run and friendly.
A family run small restaurant serving home cooked local food. Simple but excellent. Certaldo is very proud of its locally grown onions (cipolla), so I had onion soup and veal in onion sauce, both of which were delicious. The house wine (by the litre) was...very acceptable and reasonably priced. None of the family members who were serving on our visit spoke English, but we managed to communicate perfectly well. We been there once previously, a couple of years ago, and they greeted us like long lost friends. We will certainly return.More
Not my first review but we returned here for lunch and dinner during a recent stay. All the food was first class and authentic. During our stay in Florence we paid far more for inferior food elsewhere. Be sure to book or be disappoinred.
Our familiarity with Certaldo is of 20+ years duration, yet we have infrequently eaten here. This year, however, we had lunch three times within 12 days simply because the food is well-prepared, simply Tuscan, and only locals grace the place. Of course, it is a...good idea to return to restaurants in order to get to know the staff better (and vice-versa). In these three visits we have had the standard antipasto of meats & bruschetta, coniglio, vitello smothered in Certaldo's red onions, thin sliced pette di pollo, scaloppini con pomodoro, and torta di nonna. With a half liter of vino, average cost was 40 euro for 2. Easy to find: as you exit the funiculare, turn left and the trattoria is about 50 yards past the end of the piazza, on the right side of the road.More
Loved having lunch at this authentic Italian restaurant. The pasta was delicious, the pesto sauce so fresh. Great service, good value. Busy at the lunch hour, we arrived when it opened and got a table right away. Highly recommend when visiting Florence.
Wow!!! What a great little restaurant, loved the fact the menu was all in Italian but the staff were extremely helpful in translating it and suggesting certain dishes. Food was amazing some of the best pasta I have ever had! Would highly recommend going to...this place if in Florence.More
If you belong to any other group apart from white & straight, I highly suggest you give this place a skip. The staff is rude, extremely arrogant & seeing my Indian family, they refused to seat us! There are amazing options with better food and...better hospitality right next door!More
Right in the center of Certaldo. The owner and his wife were terrific. Excellent service. The food tasted like home cooking. Clearly, it’s where the locals eat. We got the Pici Mercantia. It was really great. The pasta fagioli was excellent too. The house wine...is the best. Not fancy....just good old fashioned authentic Tuscan cuisine for great prices. Great value for what we ate. We would go back there again!!More
This is a popular restaurant for locals and tourists alike. A reservation is almost always necessary for dinner. The food represents great home cooking, tasty and not fancy, and a great value for your euro.
On a late lunch the owners were kind enough to accept us and feed with what they do. Cheese and salami- try the finocchiona with piece of homemade bread and Certaldo onion jam . The Pici Mercantia were fabulous!
We tried this after a local resident recommended it. I tried the excellent roast rabbit and the famous Certaldo mushrooms and later wonderful baccala (cod). The appetizer of local cheese and salumi (cold meats) are quite tempting too. The house wine was quite a good...combo, and I loved the desserts and the grappa. The owners remembered us and greeted us as friends on our return visit.More
The menu at Casa Linga is uncomplicated but very good Tuscan dishes. Service is very friendly indeed and very welcoming. Worth walking down (then up) from Certaldo Alto!
