Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wanted to give Nick’s a 5 star review BUT the Gumbo was disappointing! The host upfront was friendly and seated us immediately, the waitress (Velma) was wonderful. My grandson said the Ribeye was the best he had eaten on the island but his absolute favorite...was the garlic mashed potatoes! My husband & I ordered the gumbo and it was so disappointing! The gumbo appeared to have been put through a blender and then added shrimp to it!! Cheesecake for dessert was wonderful! We will be going back but definitely will not be ordering the gumbo!More

This is a really fun spot with excellent food. The grilled oysters are the best I've had, even compared to Felix's in New Orleans. The fresh gulf shrimp were amazing as well. A bonus here is that they have a pool and a frothy hot...tub that you can enjoy after your meal, or you could even eat out there if you so please. This is definitely a must visit in Galveston.More

The WORST service EVER!! The server brought my Dad and I sweet teas when we asked for unsweetened. Then when my Dad was kindly asking for unsweetened teas instead, the terrible server said,"wait let me finish talking first then you can go." Absolutely unacceptable! I...talked to the manager and asked for a new server right away. The manager said he would take care of it. The food was not good. I wasn't looking for something free, but maybe the manager could of offered. It has bothered me SO much that I couldn't get to sleep and decided to come on the balcony at 2am and write this review. I'm here with my wife and Son, visiting my Dad for a few days on their spring break and that terrible dinner at NICK'S was a really bad start. I hope you all enjoy your stay in Galveston, but please take my advice and eat somewhere else. Really bad, bad, bad!More

Four of us had dinner on the patio on a Wednesday night. Our waiter (unfortunately I can't recall his name) was super friendly and helpful! He had excellent recommendations and our meals were all very good. He even shared a couple of funny storied about...the pigeons that hopped around nearby - though none of them bothered us while we ate our meals. Apparently there was a mix-up at the bar and a couple of wrong or extra drinks were made, so he gave them to us at no charge! (They were very good, btw!) I had the Grilled Salmon Piccata and it was very good. My friends had the Mahi Mahi and the Fried Shrimp with a massive loaded baked potato and they all really enjoyed their meals, as well. We told our waiter that we were eating next door at Gaido's the following night and he told us that they are sister restaurants and that we would surely enjoy our meal there as well (we did!) After we left, my friends said they were even more excited to visit Gaido's now that they knew it was part of the same family that owns Nick's! This was an impromptu choice for our dinner and I'm so glad we chose to stop here. I would definitely recommend!More

Better than we hoped for! Legacy recipes and menu made for a great meal. Excellent seafood platter homemade paprika bread under the seafood. Blackened salmon in spinach salad - wonderful! Cobb salad with GENEROUS piles of bacon, blue cheese, avocado, and tomatoes. Homemade ranch to...die for. Ask for Velma to serve you. Local woman who knows EVERYTHING about Galveston.More

We ordered the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain and a Greek Salad with Shrimp. Both both large portions and delicious. The Asiago sauce on the redfish was creamy and very flavorful. Good prices for such large portions. We arrived just before closing and offered to get our...food to go but our waiter Anthony L was great. Encouraged us to sit and enjoy our meal never rushing us. The restaurant had a fun retro look and in the day time views of the water. Inside and outside seating, loved this place will definitely go back.More

First time here. Nick has brought the Gaido’s quality next door to his new place. The crab cake appetizer with 2 grilled shrimp and white wine sauce was PERFECT.

We were greeted warmly by the manager (wearing a starched white Gaido’s dress shirt). We were seated in a bright, white, clean, happy Cape Cod-vibe dining room. Everything we ordered was delicious! Fried crab claws, thankfully in season, and the shrimp 🍤 platter (grilled, lightly...battered fried, bacon-wrapped, and another of which we can’t remember the description) offered one delectable bite after another. The Blue Hawaiian was honestly the most lusciously satisfying cocktail I’ve ever had! We couldn’t pass up the crustless pecan pie for dessert, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and extra pecans. Oh man. The manager informed us that they ship thousands of these pies, especially during the holidays. We can understand why! We’ve got to find out about ordering ourselves! Our review may sound over the top, but we can’t adequately convey how much we enjoyed our entire experience.More
