Delicious food and very welcoming team. A little gem hidden away. Only ever been for breakfast or brunch but would be interested in evening meals too.
I always forget about this place and have been meaning to call in for ages. Today we went for lunch and it was the best lunch we’ve had anywhere in a long time. We had the goats cheese and onion tartlet and the chorizo, potato,...pepper skillet.....both dishes were fantastic. All homemade, the coleslaw was fresh and crunchy and the salads were a bit more interesting than just tomato and cucumber. A lovely cosy little place with excellent quality food and lovely, friendly staff. We’ll be back very soon.More
Happened upon this lovely place. Excellent food with a good choice of vegetarian meals too. The mixed platter was of very high quality. Ambience very cosy. Service most friendly.
Food was just so good - everything about it - smell & taste - presentation. The atmosphere is calming and pleasant The people serving very friendly. We are from a local town Llanidloes and visit Newtown often so cannot understand why we didn't know about...this place. Straightforward house wine - very reasonably priced - tempranillo for the red. I am not a desert person but the table ordered the last four of the apple crumbles and extra forks and spoons. To call it an apple crumble does it no service - light ? filo pastry, apple, crumble, ice cream and cream. It was gorgeous sensibly proportioned and delicious. Espresso excellent.More
Wonderful little restaurant and tea room: timbered, cosy and very welcoming. How it ought to be done
I arrived later than the rest of my group, but our food still arrived pretty much at the same time which was helpful. I ordered the Welsh Rarebit - very good indeed and just what I wanted after a long drive! It was also very...filling so I did not manage to eat any of the lovely looking cakes. The tea room has a wonderful atmosphere - a proper old style country tea room!More
Great evening again at Bank Cottage , always great tasty food ,great service and a lovely atmosphere , absolutely love these taster evenings , roll on next one
I was recommended the Bank Cottage Tea Rooms by Yesterdays Guesthouse in Newtown. What a find! The restaurant was warm and welcoming in a beautiful old building. We went for the Taster Menu - 7 delicious courses of Welsh food. It was a really fun...night and we left feeling full and happy! Thanks so muchMore
Thank you really pleased you enjoyed it. hope to see you again soon Ged and Graham
Called in on Friday evening for the tapas menu. We're visiting the area for a short break and emailed to reserve a table which was a good idea as it seemed quite busy. The service was friendly and polite, the setting quirky and a little...rustic. The tapas menu was full of the traditional Spanish delights such as patatas bravas, omelette, chorizo, mixed sharing platter with Serrano, olives, manchego and aioli. Really nice food and drinks at a reasonable price, what a great idea!! If we were in the area again we'd certainly come back and will recommend to any friends visiting!More
Hi so glad you enjoyed the evening and thank you for your review. hope to see you again. Ged and Graham
Prettiest cafe in Newtown although to call it a cafe seriously undermines the food and reception you'll find here. Lots of meal options you would never find anywhere else and all freshly made. My own favourite is the Spanish eggs.....love it. Primarily daytime opening but...starting weekend evening taster experiences soon.More
We had a table for 6 for the taster menu. Six courses and very good value. The wine list also good value. On a cold night the restaurant was warm and toasty kept warm with a open fire. The restaurant is family run and has...just started evening opening. Taster menus like this are a good way of eating with friends.. no time wasted on deciding on what to choose. Just trust the chef to deliver a good balanced meal which she did. We would recommend to anyone who likes good food at a value price.More
We visited on a wet blustery day and what a warm wonderful welcome this restaurant provided for us. It possesses a lovely atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff, it provides a good varied menu with the food freshly presented to a very high standard with...minimum delay. Will definitely visit again when next in the area a first class establishmentMore
Quaint archetypal old-style tea room, with the emphasis on quaint. Great interior (to match the the exterior), not 'modernised' or over re-modelled, just a good, old cottage interior. The team are extremely welcoming and friendly, providing great service and good quality food. This is a...haven of old-world charm in the middle of a bustling market town, a true tearoom experience as opposed to the sanitised coffee chains and café/bars that are everywhere. A great place to relax and take time out.More
Wonderful home made food - enjoyed the Homity Pie, which was accompanied by the best salad I've tasted in a cafe/restaurant. Very friendly staff. Lovely olde worlde oak beamed cosy atmosphere, tastefully decorated. Highly recommended. My only regret is that we had not been there...before.More
