San Gimignano is full of great medeival buildings and luckily also many great view points from where they can be admired. Rocca Montestaffoli is one of these spots. Unlike the towers the view here is free of charge.

We walked up here on a cold and icy day after several inches of snow the previous day. It has a magnificent view of the town and the vineyards from the parapet wall and the garden inside the citadel is a relaxing sit in the sun on a cold windy day since it breaks the wind completely.
Great place to have an overview of the city and landscape around it! When I've been there, there was an guy playing instruments from all around the world, some of them were handmade! Really amazing and relaxing!
The place is nice but not remarkable but the tower is. You can climb the tower for free and get an amazing view of the town and surrounding Tuscany. This is only a short way from the main street.
Great views of the rooftops and medieval towers of San Gimignano - and it's free!
Walk into the fortress ruin and find the tower in the corner. It's 20 narrow, steep steps but worth the climb.
We visited Rocco of Motestaffoli just before sunset. There are great views of the surrounding area and of the towers in Sam Gimignano. This place is free of charge and is worth the short hike and climb up and short set of steps to get to the lookout. It is about a 5 minute walk behind the Duomo and is not as busy as the Main street and piazzas. It is worth the walk to see this sight. There is also wine tasting here. We did not try it, but would be nice to try some wine and enjoy the views of the countryside.
