Living Heritage Koslanda is indeed a piece of paradise. Located in the highland of Siri Lanka, in the middle of a forest, it was idealized by a Sri Lankan film director in collaboration with Channa Daswatte, a famous architect.
The suites are huge, including more than one room and a courtyard. The decoration is exquisite and elegant. There is a garden in the back with a plunge pool and an outdoor shower.
Dinner is served in an open pavilion and the food is delicious.
The hotel is surrounded by a lush forest and it has a waterfall within walking distance.
We were received with flower necklaces and received a bouquet when leaving. What else can we look for?

We spent 2 nights in this beautiful small hotel during our family holiday in Sri Lanka (2 parents and 2 young adult children). We had a great time in Koslanda!
First of all, I really loved the spacious and beautiful rooms. The concept of the rooms gives an enormous feeling of rest and peace! The pool is also a very quiet and relaxing place, and the view from the pool is fantastic. We walked to the waterfall and had a great time swimming there. We also had a private cooking class during lunch time, we cooked our own Sri Lanka Curry! The food at Koslanda is very good. The personel is higly qualified, kind and helpful. We also appreciated the contact we had with the manager, who is always available for help and advice. All questions and requests are answered on the spot! The small scale of the Koslanda concept highly contributes to the familiar and relaxing atmosphere, the "hidden luxury" and high standards. We higly recommend this place!

What an amazing place Lucy and her team have created here! It is truly heavenly and the photos just don’t do it justice. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like special guests. Karim, Johnson and the team work hard to make this the kind of holiday that you don’t forget. Even the chef kept an eye on what the children were enjoying and sent over more of the same! They loved all the pancakes! And considering how worried they were about only having a choice of curry or curry, they were very relieved!

I had read reviews that it wasn’t a place for children. I really can’t imagine why not! This place is heaven! My kids loved the outdoor space - my daughter even played cricket, which she refuses to do at home. Some of the lovely young staff members joined my husband and 7 year old son for a game of cricket - much to his delight! It’s the moments like these that they’ll never forget and that’s what sets these small hotels apart from the rest.

We were a little disappointed that we couldn’t visit the private waterfalls because they’d had so much rain and the rocks on the way were just too slippery for the children. However, there are waterfalls just down the road and although you’re not really supposed to go in the pools, it looked perfectly safe to do so - and we did! The kids loved it.

Thank you Koslanda! Keep doing what you’re doing!

Dear kirstylouise001
Thank you for posting your review, especially about how much your kids (and therefore you as parents) enjoyed your stay - I have raised my two daughters from an early age and so I know that for the right parents with the right mindset, Living Heritage Koslanda, offers a fabulously safe and free environment for them to wander and explore. Our Suites are specifically built to offer plenty of space, and for families with older children, they can be connected via the courtyards, for total privacy.
So thank you for appreciating what we have done, and we are so very pleased that you all as a family had such a great stay.
Best wishes

Let me say the first thing that the website photos don't do Koslanda justice. Before we came here (my girlfriend and I) we thought it was just an OK-looking place. But the hotel is really pretty, much better looking than we though, especially the guest room.
Our room was very spacious, and the courtyard in the entrance area very pretty. At the back, there is a stone jacuzzi pool which is set against a wall with tropical vines and other plants. This gives it a nice romantic look. The only thing about the bedroom and bathroom is that it's too dark in there — the girlfriend complained how she could not do her makeup.
The hotel grounds are nice. We loved the Ambalama concept. These are traditional Srilankan open structures for travellers to lounge in. And Koslanda adopted the design for its lounges and the restaurant.
The hotel has a very cool new concept guest houses as well, which are very different to the other rooms. These are almost like tree houses and are very open and white and filled with light and swept by tropical breeze. Loved it there though we only visited one of them for a quick showaround. But maybe we should have booked one of these instead. Really beautiful. They are much smaller though than the other rooms.
The swimming pool is great. Picturesque, with great view, and another Ambalama at one end. A cool place to hang out.
Staff is great BTW — I should have mentioned it first of all! They make a fantastic atmosphere, ah, and the food was a real surprise — maybe the best we had in Sri Lanka.
As we visited in the wet season there was rain and, believe or not, the occassional nasty leech, hidden in the grass. These are yucky so best to wear trousers. Or visit in the dry season, no problems then.
In any case, we had a lovely time at Koslanda and think it's totally worth your time and effort to get here and stay — we would visit again, even in wet season. These strong tropical rains are so calming, and we did not mind just having some time off from the scorching sun.

Dear Daniel L

Well always glad to hear that we more than lived up to expectation, and in fact exceeded expectation.
These are music to our ears. S happy that you enjoyed our hospitality so much and that our staff were so pleasing. Unfortunately you visited t a time when Sri Lanka was caught in an unseasonably wet period in our part of the island - the months of May, June and July are dry in our part of Sri Lanka while it traditionally rains in the south west - and therefore you were very unlucky I'm afraid, and these stormy skies I also affected the lighting in the rooms. However thank you for pointing this out and we will be looking into installing higher wattage bulbs in the rooms. Regarding leeches these are only seen in the jungle and we provide leech socks for those who wish to walk to the waterfall during this time. Alas this is a feature for all jungles of Sri Lanka and is an indication that the habitat is not polluted by pesticides or other pollutants, and is the price we pay for such pristine natural beauty. .
Thanks and best wishes
