Family fun while appreciating history and nature. The kids love the wildlife(frog and fruit bats), vines to swing, rocks to climb and "squeeze in- between." We valued the historical(pre-colonial, WWII, Marcos period) and scientific significance of the cave.
The guide was friendly and informative. Be sure to wear hiking attire and bring a flashlight for yourself. Well worth the trip!
Cave where you can stay if you want to scape...natures made cave where we can appreciate natures creation with high respect to our Creator!
I cannot say how far this is from the main road since we got here after Quitinday hill (which was a loooong way from the main road). They charge PhP300 per walking tour, max of 6 people (our trio joined another group so we just paiddded PhP150... so maybe PhP50/head).
It was an easy cave tour, just follow the guide who gives trivia and points out rock formations. Cool wind fans you as you walk along. I was specially interested in the marks of ancient jars and remains of said-to-be human bones embedded in the cave walls and pillars.
To make cavetour easy, lights were installed and cemented paths were built inside (which imho is detrimental to cave conservation---even a remnant of old movie shooting is still there!). There are some newly developing rock forms, but a lot of old rock formations have lost their glistening qualities and turned brownish (mainly due to irresponsible humans, from the tourguide's mouth).
There is a strong gust of wind in Hoyop Hoyopan cave. You can enter the caves at a cheap rate of 10 pesos if you have a flashlight. If you want a detailed "history" and some stories about the rick formations you can hire a tour guide for 300 pesos. The caves are amazing and the fourth entrance has a grand view of Mayon Volcano
