If you want to know what mashawashe means go and eat it at Abu Elias in Acre. Tasted this dish made of humous, tahini, olive oil, garlic and other spices quite a few times, but I have never enjoyed it as the one made at this small restaurant. Delectable!

Abu Elias hummus is really one of the best Hummus restaurants in Israel. everytime I am in Acxre I eat my lunch there. The place is clean, the staff is friendy andf generou, andf the hummus is a mixture of the best tihina and hummus paste one could ever get. With my palestinian background and being the daughter of one of those mothers who picked every hummus bean and examined it carefully before cooking it, I have to say that this restaurant serves the hummus cvlosest in texture and taste andf freshness to that made in palestinian homes. The green sald here is fresh especiaslly that the tomatoe is chosen half ripe and not fully red. When fully red and cut an hour or more before mixing it with cucumber and lettuce, its smell and taste worsens and with the hot weather of seashore city of Acre, it wastes vthe salad. I also liked the fact that good olive oil was added to the hummus. One should be careful that in some restaurants, olive oil is mixed with canola corn oil to cut off expenses. A diner can notice that the texture of oil is too liquid on the hummus. If this is the case then it is a mixture.

Local people recommend is Abu Elias for a good humus and they were right. All the dishes we tried (four as far as I remember) were excellent, very smooth and with the right level of acidity.
