It must be at least 15 years since I last visited the Old Swiss House. Being back in Fuengirola, I strolled past. Nothing seemed to have changed (apart from the prices!), the menu looked inviting so I decided to have lunch. As it transpired, a very good step.
The interior has changed little. Comfortable, traditional furnishings, solid if anything a little understated. It appears that the former owner has retired and that the running of the restaurant has been taken over by his son and daughter. I think that they are wise to stay with their father's style of operation.. The layout means that there is an area at the front of the restaurant where smoking is permitted. One new development is a small tapas bar which I think will be welcome for those wanting something lighter than a full meal.
Unsurprisingly, the menu has a focus on Swiss dishes and offers a good selection. There are daily special choices and I am told that apple strudel is made every day. It is on my list for next time! Excellent wine list. Service was courteous and efficient.
Clearly, given the overall quality and experience, the Old Swiss House is not at the cheaper end of Fuengirola restaurants but in my view it is nevertheless first class value.
And having come back to this old friend after 15 years, I am looking forward to renewing our association.
