I grew up coming to Siesta Beach every year, and it has never gotten old. This is a must-do for anyone visiting Sarasota!

This is - One of the best beaches i saw!!! The water temperate is 2-3C colder then Miami beach? but again- it's need to see!!!
Of course the sand is amazing! Like walking in flour, so soft and white. Lots of shells here. Very shallow so you can play in the water. Nice sandbar in the middle and not too far out. There is a grill here with reasonable food prices. Aww, the wonders of the water!
After visiting most of the gulf shore beaches from Clearwater to Marco island this is one of my top beaches for sand and space. There is lots of parking and restrooms. The restaurant is okay. The only down fall is the distance to the beach is quiet a walk
Siesta Beach is a must-see when in the Sarasota area. The sand is so soft and easy on the feet, the water is calm and inviting, and the beach is so long it has plenty of space for visitors. Sarasota County has done a great job in keeping it clean, and there is ample free parking on-site. The beach features restrooms, showers, a picnic area and pavilion, and concessions. On the evening we were there, we were treated to a sunset we won't soon forget!
We don't understand the rating as America's No1. OK, it is safe for kids with no obvious rips, and generally clean, but it lacks any shade, is almost always heaving with people, and every time we have been, it smells really bad, like foul water has leaked somewhere. There is also a large area of compacted sand at the top of the beach where stagnant water has dried out, although there is a wide section of the famous powdery sand. There are better beaches in the Sarasota area, but public access to them is limited.
