This was our first time at Claverach Farm for dinner with friends. Some of them had been here before and wanted us to experience it too. We arrived at 6p for appetizers and drinks. Dinner started at 7p with multiple courses. We finally rolled out of there around 930p. Overall, the service was perfect and the food delicious. First course was a butternut squash puree with garam masala - YUM! Second was a sea scallop and ricotta ravioli - the pasta was so tender you could tell it was home made. Third was a salad with fennel and parm shavings. The main course was chicken roulade with mashed potatos and roasted autumn veggies. Dessert was a winter squash clafoutis with whipped cream. Overall everything was wonderful, and I can definitely see doing this again.
We set this up a couple months in advance. It's a couple miles from interstate 44 and you have to drive a narrow gravel road by the river. The place where they serve the meal is a nice old updated barn.
They started with appetizers of vegetables, dip, really good deviled eggs and small pizzas. At 7:00 o'clock they started serving the meal. It was a very intriguing menu. They made great dishes using vegetables that are said to be raised there. I think they change the menu frequently. They serve each course with the only real options being what you drink. The vegetable dishes were excellent. They served a pork dish for the meat that was extremely rich and loaded with sodium (at least it seemed to be). That was the only negative about the food.
The only other issue was the noise level with 100 or so people drinking and talking at the same time. It was a fun evening and it lasted until 9:30. It's an interesting experience as long as you can handle the noise. It was reasonably priced and I would consider going again sometime.
What a wonderful evening at the farm. Dinner and drinks in a barn!
This farm to table event is by reservation only and is simply devine. This multi course meal is sourced from different in season vegetables and a protein sourced within 60 miles. The chef does a wonderful job of preparing all the dishes and having a natural fire pizza oven makes the flatbread amazing.
If you haven't been visit the website and try to gain a spot in an upcoming dinner. We will definitely be back.
We ended up booking our dinner for the last night of a vicious heatwave in the St. Louis area and it was about 108 degrees in the shade when we arrived at the farm. No matter - the venue, the service, the appetizers and the dinner were all amazing. Dining inside the renovated barn was wonderful and the surrounding farm and orchards were just glorious ... this was honestly one of the most unique and enjoyable dining experiences we have ever had. The food was great - a true farm to table meal that was both elegant and delicious.
